I didn't know much about Jason, but I knew that Piper had made him feel real bad.
I know. A lot of detail on that topic. At the moment I was just wondering who would break next in this game.
And it was Piper's turn now.
"I don't want the 'no repeats' rule", she pouted. "Can't we change it back?"
Everyone sighed and nodded, though whether that was due to charmspeak or normal agreement, who would know?
Piper turned to me. "Frank?" she questioned. I knew what she meant.
"Truth", I told her.
"What is your most life-threatening secret?" she questioned.
I swallowed. "Well, you all know about the stick", I told her, "So that's not a secret."
My life had once depended on a piece of driftwood. If it had burnt totally, I would have died. But when we had won the Giant war, I had been granted freedom from the lifeline. It couldn't harm me now.
Piper mused over this. "Fine, I guess I'll change it to your worst fear."
I started sweating. "The thing I fear most... is... loosing everyone I care about. I mean, after my mom..."
Everyone knew what I meant. My mom had gone to war and she never came back. She died to save an injured comrade.
Percy patted me on the back. "I know what you mean, Frank", he said.
Percy, too, had the same worst fear.
He was just way too loyal for his own good. He would die for a friend. Gladly. And no one wanted that to happen.
"So!" I said, trying to sound upbeat. "Hazel.Truth, Dare, or Name?"
