Chapter 2: Destruction

~Yuki~

The sound of one of the horses neighing, jolted my whole body awake. Then a wave of heat shot at me like a jet, feeling like 1,000,000 degrees. The sound of screams and crackling wood filled the air. Flames were surrounding me. Suddenly, Chocolate was in the flames along with Spotty. I covered my mouth and screamed in horror.

Then I felt my skin start to burn. I hissed in pain and ran out of the barn as fast as I could. I looked to see the barn along with the rest of the village being destroyed by fire. Villagers screamed in horror and pain as they also burned. I gagged at the smell of burning flesh. The village was being destroyed by an unexpected fire.

A girl ran up to me. She put her hands on my shoulders, her grip tightened when I noticed that she had terrible third degree burns. "Yuki! Get out of here while you can! No one is going to make it and neither will this village! We need at least one soul survivor! Please! For the sake of your life!" Tears streamed down her face as she said that.

She hugged me unexpectedly. "I'm sorry for being a jerk all those years Yuki. Just please save yourself. My name is Rosina. I'm so sorry!" She hugged me tighter before pulling away and kissing my cheek. I smiled. "It's okay Rosina. I hope that you'll be okay." She nodded as she watched me run away. Away from the burning village. Burning people. Burning Chocolate and Spotty.

I sobbed as I ran away from the only things that cared about me. Those two horses. The brown one that smelled like hay and had that horse odor. And the one with black spots. They were my only safe haven and now they were gone. I also ran away from all of those innocent people, especially Rosina. She seemed so nice yet she just died to help me get away.

I'm so sorry. I thought as I continued to run. I ran until I tripped on a root. I hit my head on a rock and was knocked out.

My eyes opened to a bright light. A sweet red haired lady and white haired man stood in front of me. "Oh Kevin, she's awake!" The man that was called Kevin nodded. "Yes Rose, Yuki's awake." The lady that was called Rose smiled.

My eyebrows furrowed in confusion. "What's going on!?" I jumped. They also jumped at my sudden outburst. "Oh Yuki, you've been asleep for a week." I shook my head. "Who are you guys?" I was so confused. I was just running away from the burning village and I woke up with people named Kevin and Rose. "Why we're your parents of course. Who else would we be sweet heart?" Rose joked.
