Once we're both out safely and Savannah has thanked the men who got us out a million times we find ourselves in my car. Savannah settles herself behind the wheel while I kick off my boots. She tugs her seatbelt on and looks at me expectingly.

"I don't do safety." I shrug and pull my knees to my chest.

"The fuck you don't. Being reckless is cool until you die. You want to die, tough stuff?"

I can't help but laugh at her words. She's such a mom.

"I don't care. They're uncomfortable." I state.

She rolls her eyes, "Whatever. Are you going to tell me where to go?" She asks before pointing to my phone.

"Of course, mom." I sigh and unlock my phone before opening the maps app and typing in our destination.

"Look, I didn't mean to offend you... I'm just looking out for you." She says sympathetically.

Realizing what she means I quickly reassure her, "No, no. Savannah, I was kidding."

"Are you sure I didn't offend you? I would never-"

"I'm sure," I reply, "Don't worry about "offending" me, okay? I don't get offended."

She nods before adding, "Sav."

"Right."

After we've made it onto the interstate and I don't need to be giving directions every five minutes, conversation ceases and we ride in a comfortable silence. I check the time on my phone. It's three in the morning.

I groan, "How are you not tired?"

She glances at me, "I don't know. I slept while you were working."

"Oh," I yawn, "mind if I sleep for a few hours?"

"Nope. Go ahead." She responds.

"Thanks," I mutter, already drifting off. It doesn't take long for sleep to overcome me.

I wake to the radio blasting through the speakers. My eyes flutter open.

"What the fuck, Savannah," I state rather than ask.

"Sav." She calmly responds over the music.

I realize the car is parked. I sit up to peer out my window.

"Turn the fucking music off," I shout. I recognize the tune. Trouble by Cage The Elephant.

"Uh yeah. I'm hungry for something to eat and I didn't know how to wake you up, sorry."

I quickly turn the radio off. "A nudge and a whisper would've gone a long way," I respond. She shrugs and opens her door before stepping out, "What are you doing?"

"I told you, I'm hungry. Plus we need to stock up on snacks." I groan and get out of my side. The cool morning breeze whips through my hair and I begin to stretch.

"Come onnn." Savannah whines.

"Shut up. I just woke up." I shoot back. I reach into the car and pull out my shoes. I slip them on and shut the door.

"Can you lock the door, please?" I ask before straightening my sweatshirt. She pushes the button on the keypad and once I hear the click of the lock I start towards the building.

"What time is it?" I ask.

She falls in step with me, "Like eight. Why?"

"It's been like five hours since I fell asleep," I state, "Where are we?"
