Ch.10
The next day as Sage sat at her desk looking over papers trying to get her list of Seniors ready to talk about their future she couldn't help but to think about the day she had had yesterday. Seeing her brother again was a comforting feeling especially since she knew that he wanted to be around for their grandmother. It made her happy as she thought back to the bright smiled that filled her Grams face as she spoke to Ryan. The only problem that she seemed to have from the whole ordeal was the fact that her father didn't want to speak of him.
She tried her best last night to get her father to say something about Ryan, and to get him to acknowledge the son that he had never before mention, but the only thing that Sage got from the man was a cold shoulder as he stormed away tiresomely to his room. After that he hadn't left his room the entire night and made a show of not being around the next morning and was up and out of the house before Sage had even gotten up to get ready for work.
Besides her family problem, Sage couldn't shake the way she felt after she had finally gotten in touch with Bruno last night. Though his call had been short, she got the feeling that he had meant what he said over the phone and Sage couldn't quite shake the unsettling feeling that she got when she hung up. His exact words, when she asked him how it went with Sawyer was to let it go, and to stay away.
Seeing that Bruno and Sawyer were cousins, the thought of Bruno warning her away from him had her deeply puzzled.
She passed the state of confusion and was just lost.
Something had happened between Sawyer and Camryn and was still happening. Whatever went on had become so bad that it made Sawyer nearly lash out and attacked the one he once called brother.
Sitting back in her chair and bringing a lazy in up and through her hair, she placed her head on the back part of the chair and stared off into space as her mind continued to wonder.
Putting together everything she had learned about Sawyer since she had been back, and since the two of them had stumbled across each other, she quickly made the fact that he was no longer the boy that he was in high school; hell, she wasn't the girl that she was.
It was easy for people to change over the years and they both clearly had, but what she couldn't figure out was if people changed that quickly. Thinking back to his distant behavior, the cold look in his eyes and the fact that he tried to attack his own friend, Sage was conflicted. Their first meeting didn't go so good, and their second went better then the first, except it was interrupted and nearly ended in a fight. Not to mention the fact that when Sawyer was on the attack mode, his eyes were the color of blood when it spilled from the skin.
Something had definitely changed over the passed seven years with Sawyer, and it had Bruno and everyone else worried. It even worried Sage. She hadn't been around too many wolves in her life time, especially those on the verge of shifting like Sawyer was, but she had seen Bruno in his wolf form, and she even watched him turn a couple of times, and each time he had in front of her, she had never witnessed those rimmed red colored eyes on him. It made her wonder if it something to do with his standing in the pack, she thought maybe it was because of his Beta title and background that he had those eyes, but she couldn't be completely sure. If it were for that reason then why would Bruno, of all people worry.
She just didn't understand.
Sitting up straightly in her chair as a knock on the door called her attention, Sage smiled up in ease as Holland came walking into her office.
"Are you ready to go?" he asked with the biggest smile on his face.
"Of course." Sage smiled back as, she began to pack her files of paper away, and grab her jacket. It took her less than a second before she had everything and together the two of them made their way out of the door and into the hall, that was nearly empty. Only students who were in the after school programs including the sport teams and the class officials were left in the school with the teachers who had stayed around to get some work done.
