Ch.13
Somehow, Sage had actually made it through the day without going crazy ad losing her mind from everything that was jumbling around in her head. She had gotten through the rest of her work day and had checked in on her Grams. Since she and her father still weren't on speaking grounds, Sage left home, after her Grams had went down for the night, and made it to Dakota's and Camryn's place at around eight.
After an hour or two of the two of them catching up, Sage found herself sitting comfortably on the large dark brown sofa in Dakota's open living room, with a glass of red wine in her hands, and her hair hanging loosely over her head.
She couldn't deny the fact that it felt good to have someone to talk to about the things that were going on in her life. Yes, Holland, Mila, Piper and Bruno were informed on things, but after growing up with Dakota and with them being each other's best friend, Sage just missed talking to the other woman like this and not over a phone.
"I am so sorry Sage." Dakota stated, sitting next to her. "You're family life is fucked up." She said taking a small sip of her wine.
"Yeah," Sage stated softly as she gave in to a small shake of the head. "Tell me about it. I can' even talk to my own father about this because he's so shut down about Ryan, and I can't get angry with my Grams because she knew this entire time and sprung it on my at the worst possible time. And come on, it would be the cruelest thing in the world to yell at a dying woman who had given me nothing but love and support. So yeah, my family life sucks."
"At least you get a brother out of it." Dakota said lightly as she turned and faced Sage, giving her a small smile.
"There is that." Sage agreed lifting her glass in cheers of the fact, before throwing the rest of the wine back.
"So what about him? How do you like having a brother so far?" Dakota asked as she refilled Sage's glass.
Turning to look at Dakota, Sage meet her with a slight shrug as she threw back another glass of wine. "I really don't know." She admitted with a soft sigh escaping her lips. "I mean, don't get me wrong or anything, Ryan's seems like he would have been nice to have around growing up. But when it comes to my father, he's just as standoffish as he is. I don't know what it is about those two but they just have a conflict that I don't understand, and for my father to not be in Ryan's life like he should have, the hatred towards his own son is unbelievable." She said as she leaned against the cushions of the sofa and let her hands run through her hair.
What she had just expressed to Dakota was the truth, she couldn't put her finger on, what it was that was driving the bad blood between the two men, and when it came to her father's reaction to his own son, she couldn't understand what a child had done that was so bad that a father could turn his back on one kid and not the other.
Shaking her head of the thoughts running through her mind, she decided to switch the topic from her and towards Dakota, after all they had spent years away from each other, and there was so much for her to catch up on, plus she needed a break from her own life problems.
"You know what, never mind that," she laughed off softly as she placed a soft smile on Kota, who sat next to her with her long dark hair tied in a bun, and a long pair of sweats on, "how are things with you. Last time I was here things with you and Cam were still rocky. How did all of the conflict between you two turn into an engagement and a marriage?" she said lifting her eyes in a suggestive manner, causing Dakota to break out into a fit of laughter as a soft red blush filled her face.
"Oh god," Dakota said softly as she quickly sat up and reached over, placing her glass of wine on the long coffee table, before turning to face Sage. "Okay, yeah when you left and after you left things between Cam and I were still so messed up, but they were moving alone. You know we both had a lot to make up for and we were guilty on the way that things turned out for us. I don't exactly know what repaired out relationship, but I do know that Camryn forgave me for the way I pushed him away. He wanted to make things better, and he was trying so hard."
