Ch.14
Two long weeks had come and gone, and Sage found herself getting back into the grove of things. After hearing that Camryn and the other Alpha's had a mystery on their hands, and after her mistake of sleeping with the guy who had wrecked her in only the worst ways, Sage oddly found herself in a sudden content state of mind. After the first few days of her sleeping with Sawyer, she didn't think she would have the strength to put herself back together after that mistake, but she did. Deciding that it was the best thig for her to do, she found herself throwing all she had into work and taking care of her grandmother.
When she wasn't around her Grams or working, she was spending all of her time with Bruno and Holland and getting to know little Elijah, who had quickly taken her heart. There were times when she found it hard to return him back to Mila, who complained that Sage had a bad habit of takin her boys' attention away from her (referring to the fact that Holland had no begun openly calling Sage his number one girl in front of her) and how Elijah had grown so comfortable around her.
She didn't really get a chance to talk to Dakota about the situation that Cam and the other Alpha's were dealing with. Both Cam and Dakota had left for Cassandra Pierce territory shortly after they were informed of the news and had yet to returned.
But that was weeks ago, and she hadn't heard anything from Dakota. Part of her was worried about not hearing anything from Dakota, because from everything thing that she had heard that night and from everyone's worried expression Sage got the impression that something like the way Alpha Pierce's pack was killed had happened before. Her not hearing from Dakota made the worry creep up slowly within her. But with Holland able to check in with Camryn and him giving telling her that everything was alright and that their business there being a routine check, Sage was able to push the worry down, and shift her focus onto other things.
One of the more important situations that she had been focusing on was her Grams and her ailing body.
Within the two weeks since everything had happened, Ryan's presence in the Parkers home had been a breath of fresh air...well to everyone expect their shared father, who had taken those times to leave the home completely or to silently watched him like a hawk. Sage was sure that when Simone had those revolting eyes on him that Ryan felt uncomfortable, but if he had, he did a great job at not showing how bothered he was as he solely placed his eyes on Sage and their grandmother.
With everything going on, she could hardly keep her sanity in check half the time. She didn't know how she was managing it thus far, but she prayed to keep it going. But unfortunately for Sage, that prayer didn't make it passed her mind scape as she pushed opened her front door and was welcomed to the shock of a lifetime as she walked inside her home and her the sound of her grandmother's voice along with another female voice.
Dropping all of her things to the side and closing the door behind her, Sage made her way into the kitchen and spotted her grandmother sitting at the kitchen table with a glass of what she was assuming tea, the smell of aroma scent candles filling the air, and the sight of her grandmother smoking a joint.
As her eyes went wide with shock, her body reacted on its own as she quickly walked over to her Grams and snatched the weed away.
"What in the world is going on here?" she all but shouted as she eyed her grandmother with astonishment.
"Relax sweetheart," a calming and mellow voice sounded throughout the kitchen, "it's not like it's going to kill her."
Pulling her eyes off of her grams and over to the other woman in the room, Sage found her eyes landing on a beautiful woman with deep dark eyes that melted like chocolate with a soft and genuine smile on her face. She sat across from Grams dressed in a white t-shirt and white pants with a nude colored wrap coat on. Her beautiful long black hair hung down her back in loose curls, giving her the appeal of an open and welcoming look.
