I woke up the next morning to the smell of something baked. I sit up on my bed and look around the room. I see that Tai and Raven are gone. Summer is sitting at the desk writing something. I guess she heard me get up because she looked up from writing and smiled at me. She picked up a plate and a coffee mug and walked towards me.
"Good morning. I hope you slept better after the indecent. I got you coffee and a muffin," she said handing me the plate and cup.
"Thank you. Where are Tai and Raven," I asked setting the cup on the nightstand next to my bed.
"They're in class already. I already had one of my classes and I was in the middle of doing my homework."
"Two things. One what time did you have class and two did I miss any of mine?"
"My class was at 5:30 and no you did our next class is at 8."
"Wait, you said our?"
"I did, that's because we have the next class together."
"Ok."
She gets up and goes back to working on her homework.
I finished eating my muffin and went to go get dressed. I hate that we have to wear uniforms but I do have to say that Summer looks really cute in hers. The one thing that kind of frustrates me is that she was always wearing her hood. I don't know why it frustrates me but it does. Although I really shouldn't say it frustrated me in a bad way. More of in a way of not knowing why she always wore it.
"Why do you always wear your hood," I had to know the answer so I just asked.
"Its because my mother made it for me. Its the only thing I have left of her," her face started to have the look of sadness.
"What happened," I ask as I move closer to hug her if she needed it.
"She died. I don't like talking about it," she said with her eyes starting to tear up.
I walk over and kneeled next to her. I put my hand on her shoulder and looked up at her. She did look at me. She just stared at the ground. I put my hand lightly under her chin to make her turn and look at me. When she did, I could see that she was holding something inside. Something I knew she wound want to share. Something that has left her scared her. And not her body but her soul. She had a couple of years rolling down her face. I wipe them away. I then pulled her into a hug. We sat there for what seemed like five minutes. I then pulled away and stood up.
"Are you gonna be ok," I say to Summer in a soft voice.
"I'll be fine. We should be getting ready to leave for class,"she wiped away any dampness left on her face." Ok lets get going."
We walked to our classes and the day just takes forever. I couldn't help but wonder what had happed to cause her such pain? I hated that look in her eyes. She had been hurt before. I haven't known Summer that long, but whatever happened, she didn't deserve it.
