After Charms, they walked through the courtyard to their next lesson and Ron was, as always, complaining about Hermione, "It's leviosa, not leviosa. She's a nightmare, honestly. No wonder she hasn't got any friends." What he did not realise was that the girls were walking behind them and Hermione bustled past them, sniffling. Leslie stopped in front of the boys with an angry face as Harry said, "I think she heard you." The blonde glared at the boys, who were a little afraid of her right now, as she could hex them, but with one last angry look at them, she turned and ran after her female friend.

It was night time, all the students were in the Great Hall eating candy as Jack O'lanters light up the place. The two boys were looking at their blonde friend who was glaring at the table for quite a while now, after unsuccessfully trying to make Hermione get out of the bathroom, she became more upset all because of her redheaded friend. Harry decided to risk and ask, "Where's Hermione?"

She looked up but did not reply just glared at the two of them, especially Ron before looking back down. His question was answered by Neville, "Parvati Patil said that she wouldn't come out of the girl's bathroom. She said that she'd been in there all afternoon...crying."

"I wonder whose fault is that?" She spoke for the first time and the boys exchanged glances. Suddenly Professor Quirrell came running into the Great Hall screaming, "TROLL! IN THE DUNGEON! T-TROOLLL IN THE DUNGEON!" The whole place was silent before he spoke once again, more calmly, "Thought you ought to know." And he fainted. The Great Hall was once again silent before students started to freak, scream and run. Professor Dumbledore ordered all prefects to take the students to their dorms.

And that's how the three friends found themselves following Ron's brother, Harry asking his male friend questions as the eleven-year-old Finlay listened, " How could a troll get in?"

"Not by itself. Trolls are really stupid. Maybe Peeves let it in for a Halloween joke." In an instant, Leslie gasped before pulling her two friends aside all anger turned into worry, the redhead asked, "What?"

"Hermione! She doesn't know!" And the three ran off down the corridors. They ran down the hall but stopped when they heard a grunting noise. The green-eyed boy pulled them into a doorway and saw as a large ugly Troll entered a room. "He's going into the Girl's Bathroom!" Leslie was about to run in there but she heard  the eleven-year-old Weasley, "We're going in there?" She rolled her eyes and retorted, "Yes, we are."

The three of them ran into the bathroom just as the Troll smashed its club on the stalls. Harry yelled at the brunette to move before the Troll smashed the remaining stalls. They started throwing pieces of wood at it as the dark-haired boy yelled, "Leslie, don't you know a spell?!"

"Not any that I can think of right now!" Hermione moved under the sinks but the troll noticed and almost smashed her. Harry took out his wand and grabbed the creature club being lifted. The troll started swinging it as the former boy yelled at his friends to do something. Leslie looked at Ron and yelled, "The levitating spell." And Hermione waved her hand. The redhead conjured the spell and the club levitated confusing the creature before it smacked him in the head and fell. The four of them approached it carefully.

"Is it... dead?" Asked the brunette, Harry denied and took his wand which was covered in goo, the blonde scrunched her face. And then, Professor McGonagall, Professor Snape and Professor Quirrell came rushing in. "Oh! Oh, my goodness! E-Explain yourselves, the three of you!" Said the woman, the three of them began to stutter when Hermione spoke, "It's my fault, Professor McGonagall." They all looked at her, Professor McGonagall shocked, "Miss Granger?"

"I went looking for the troll. I'd read about them and thought I could handle it. But I was wrong. If Harry, Ron and Leslie hadn't come and found me...I'd probably be dead."

"Be that as it may...it was an extremely foolish thing to do. I would have expected more rational behaviour on your part, Miss Granger. 5 points will be taken from Gryffindor for your serious lack of judgment." The bushy-haired girl looked down and Professor McGonagall turned to the three remaining students, "As for you three, I just hope you realize how fortunate you are. Not many students could take on a full-grown mountain troll and live to tell the tale. 5 points...will be awarded to each of you. For sheer dumb luck."

Snape and McGonagall left the place and Quirrell spoke, "Perhaps you ought to go...M-might wake up...heh." They did as he told and the four of them went back to their dormitories.

The next morning the quartet entered the Great Hall before they sat Leslie saw a boy waving at her from the Hufflepuff table, she smiled and waved before sitting beside Ron. After some time, Leslie saw Harry twirling his food and not eating when he should be eating. The redhead spoke, "Take a bit of toast, mate, go on."

"Ron's right, Harry. You're gonna need your strength today." Said Hermione but Harry did not listen, "I'm not hungry."

"Well then, do not start complaining when one of us says 'I told you so'." The blonde joked making him smile a little before Professor Snape appeared. "Good luck today, Potter. Then again, now that you've proven yourself against a troll, a little game of Quidditch should be easy work for you...even if it is against Slytherin." After that, he limped away and Harry clarified, "That explains the blood."

The blue-eyed girl raised her eyebrows and leaned in closer to hear what he has to say, "Listen, last night, I'm guessing Snape let the troll in as a diversion so he could try and get past that three-headed dog. But, he got himself bitten, that's why he's limping."

"But why would anyone go near that dog?" Asked the brunette. "The day I was at Gringotts, Hagrid took something out of one of the vaults. He said it was Hogwarts' business, very secret." Explained the boy.

"So you're saying..." Leslie started, "That's what the dog's guarding. That's what Snape wants." He finished. An owl screeched, Harry's owl, carrying a large and long parcel, dropping it in front of the boy she flew off. "Bit early for mail, isn't it?" Said the eleven-year-old Granger, Harry looked astonished, "But I-I never get mail."

"Let's open it." Said Ron and the four of them ripped the paper and when they saw the content, Leslie was amazed, "Oh, wow."

"That's not just any broomstick, Harry. It's the Nimbus Two Thousand!" Exclaimed the redhead also amazed by the object. Their friend looked confused until he turned to look and nodded his head in gratitude at someone. The blonde looked the same way and saw Professor McGonagall stroking Hedwig. She looked at Harry once again and smiled. She was happy for her friend.
