Hours passed in the car, and it was killing me.
Somehow, Venom managed to fall asleep. Which freaked me out because when she slept, her pulse slowed down. Maybe it was the heat getting to me, because it was hot, apparently Venom needed the heating on for the entire journey.
It felt like I was slowly being cooked alive, in a very small pot.
"This is killing me." I finally croaked, my hand clenched around the door handle. Praying that we'd be stopping soon, "Please tell me we're almost there."
How could they even sleep in this? I was way too aware of every noise made. The shifting of gears, the fumes billowing out the back. The steady purr of the engine that had dimmed in sound, but was still loud to my ears.
No. It was impossible.
"We're here." Hayden announced, pulling into a rough smelling parking lot. I could smell more than a few different urines here, "Get the bags, I'm going to check us in."
Even Ripper distinctly wrinkled his nose at the dingy motel Hayden had chosen, "It's not the worst." He concluded, throwing open his door with a yawn, "But do yourselves a favor, and check the sheets."
Venom yawned in satisfaction the moment Hayden's door opened. I saw the way her lips curved into a mocking smirk when her head rolled towards me. Clearly aware that this was the closest to torture I'd been to in a while.
I couldn't get out of the car quick enough.
When my feet hit the ground, it took everything to resist from running. My muscles groaned along with myself as I stretched my arms high above my head, hearing more than a couple of cracks. Falling back to my sides, I started to haul out bags.
"Didn't sleep well?" Venom's tone was sickly sweet. She released a shallow yawn, "I haven't felt more rested in ages!"
Growling under my throat, I stalked away just in time as Hayden approached us. a key dangling from her fingers, "You two are with me," She stated looking at the two of us, and then threw a second key at Ripper, "We need to talk, now."
Considering the entire ride had been done in silence, I'd been waiting for this. Hayden was like a bundle of anger, it vibrated off her the entire way her. Whenever Ripper commented on something, her hands would tighten around the wheel, or she would press down on the accelerator.
Venom shrugged, non committed, stalking ahead of me. Clearly more familiar with places like these than any of us, and it irked me even more. The motel itself looked gross, mint green paint flaked from the walls, and more than three letters were blown in the sign.
Making it look more like 'The Gand Moel'.
The rooms themselves were wide square shapes, with two twin beds and a nightstand between them. There was a couch pressed at the wall at the bottom of them, against the out dated floral wallpaper that was peeling away.
Wrinkling my nose at the smell that came from the bathroom, I turned to Hayden in question. Claiming the bed nearest the door, "You're angry." I stated, which made her eyes narrow at me.
"When someone's pissed," Venom began, her voice a mocking drawl, "They don't like it typically being pointed out."
Hayden turned her severing stare towards her, making Venom flip up her hands in mock surrender, "You realize we are travelling with two of the most sought after people on the dark web, right?" She questioned, which made Venom cock her head in question, "Oh god, we're so screwed."
"I think you're forgetting," Ripper slammed the door shut. Holding a can of something fizzing in his hand, "That I am the one who managed to remain hidden from the world for seventeen years, Hayden. I've done it for much longer than you, and I'm much better."
