"Well, ladies. I can't say this has not been a pleasure," Ripper grinned at the woman, not blind to the sense of urgency in the room, "I bid you farewell, and let's hope we see each other again."
A pressing kind of insistence exploded within the room, and everyone was moving. Ripper seemed like the only one standing still as the world moved around him.
I'm not entirely what just happened myself, but it must have been something big. Because Kala was already walking towards the door.
Clarissa strutted towards Ripper with a massive grin, "Till the next time, handsome." Her hands cupped his cheeks, and she pressed her mouth against his. The kiss lasted longer than a couple of seconds before she withdrew, "Mm. Now I see what all the fuss was about."
"It was a pleasure to finally meet you, Six." Kala informed me, her hand clenched around the door handle, "If you live through this, don't hesitate to reach out to me."
Before I could ask how, the woman disappeared. The door locked shut behind her again, and gone was the woman who managed to launch some kind of massive motion into action.
My lips parted in question as I turned to Ripper, only to face Clarissa Wane.
With a curious smile, her hands smoothed over my cheeks again, "Selene Ripper." She said my name, her eyes shining as if it tasted like candy on her tongue, "The pleasure is most definitely mine. If you ever need me, call."
A sleek golden bracelet was slipped around my wrist. Before I could look at it, Clarissa was pressing her lips against mine.
My entire body stilled at the bold move. Thankfully, the kiss was chaste, and she pulled away with an even bigger smile.
Leaving only the taste of bubble gum on my lips as she withdrew away. A man approached with a thick fur coat, "Damien, my friend, my love." She spoke with a dramatic flair to her words, "Don't you even think about being a stranger. You hear me?"
With that being said, she swept out of the room with a cool kind of grace. Ripper lightly held me by the arm, "Time to run, little wolf." He drawled leading me down the spiral staircase, and my lips parted in amazement, "The deed is done, and now it's time to go home."
"What happened up there?" I questioned, my voice a harsh whisper. The need to know glowing in my town, "Tell me."
Ripper remained grinning the entire way down, even just for show, "The World Destroyer, as you keenly named it, has been activated." He informed me, his tone hushed as we walked the corridor back to the ballroom, "Which means everyone and anyone knows someone has the key to destruction of our quaint little criminal organisation."
"What!?" I hissed, snapping my head all around us. My hand suddenly gripped Ripper's arm, holding him closer to me, "I thought it was meant to be secret!? How is that hidden!?"
Despite my increasingly growing concern, Ripper only shrugged a shoulder, "The World Destroyer just synced with every and all documents containing any type of crime. Stealing all the original material, and harvesting it for ourselves," His grin widened, delight in his eyes, "Yet, no one can do anything about it."
Because he had the trigger to release it all on him.
When the doors to the ballroom were pulled open for us, I sensed something was off immediately. Maybe it was because my eyes instantly landed on Clarissa, who's head snapped towards us. Eyes hard, void of all teasing and playfulness there from before.
Still dressed in her over-sized fur coat, she lingered with her security by the door. Lips pursed into a straight line, and she gave the slightest shake of her head. It was only then I caught the scent, the same sickening one as before.
