The starship looked shut down, dead even, as it drifted above the billions of shining dots covering the surface of Coruscant. Only when a blue glow lit up the small cockpit of the starship did it show a sign of life.
Despite the cloak the figure wore in the hologram, Cad Bane recognized who was contacting him. Normally not an unwelcome sight, since this particular client provided jobs that were usually too easy for a bounty hunter of Bane's skill. In fact, Bane would have turned this client away initially, but the pay was good, real good. This most recent job however, was a different story. And Bane did not appreciate being harassed again after already saying no.
"I already told you, this job is not possible," Bane said. The breathing modulator he used gave his voice a rough growl in his speech. "Greater hunters than me, including Count Dooku, have tried to kill her and failed." Bane's red eyes narrowed. "The Senator has very powerful friends."
"I don't want you to kill her," the figure in the hologram said. "I'll take care of her and her friends at the appointed time. All you need to do is set the trap. I'll take care of the rest." The hologram image leaned forward, "and I'm tripling your rate."
Cad Bane sat back and looked away from the hologram. He pulled a toothpick from between his lips and turned it over in his fingers absentmindedly. The plan was still extremely risky, although not as impossible as he had first claimed. After all, he had broken into the Senate building before.
"All right, " Bane said after a few moments. "When does this need to be done?"
"It has to be tonight."
"Lucky for you, I'm already in the system."
"I know."
