I sit on my throne listening to demons whining and the snobby demons trying to get cozy with me. I can feel that something is wrong but I remain seated whatever happens will be a grateful interruption, and I cross my legs, resting my chin on my hand. The chatter of the throne room quiets as yelling and shouting starts just outside. The smell of blood reaches my nose and my stomach grumbles. For a disgusting reason the smell of demon blood entices me, makes me hungry.

The door suddenly burst opens and in walk 20 lower class demons with a single onyx demon. To say I was surprised was an understatement, the only demons who have onyx or black scaly skin were royals, those with royal blood and royal power. It would be very unlikely that there was another demon like my father and I. The reason I could rule and look like this is because my mother was powerful as well. Nevertheless I bury my surprise under a smirk.

"This is very interesting indeed." All eyes fell on me and as always everyone quieted, anxiously waiting for my next words. "What abomination do we have here? Certainly you can't expect anyone to believe you are of royal decent?" The Onyx demon glared at me and I felt my whole body warm. "I am Ashre leader of the rebels and son of the king, the rightful leader!" The noble demons murmured among themselves and I mentally roll my eyes at their antics. Like sponges they soak up drama until they can't take any more. I examine the demon and deflate when I see a spot of blue under his ear. I sigh and raise my hand feeling a slight weight on my hand as I control the liquid from my guest cups. Gasps explode all over the room and the rebels tense. I motion the liquid to swirl with my fingers and strike the onyx demon on his cheek.

His face moves the the side and where I struck more blue appears. "How does it feel to know that the one you chose to follow was a fake? A hoax?" I summon more water and envelope the demon from head to toe, making a current within the little bubble. I can see the demon struggle to breath but I hardly care. Slowly the water around his turned ashy and I dispersed the water returning it to where it came from. Everyone looked shocked, silently watching the demon cough and try to regain its breath. "Guards capture the rebels. I want them in my dungeon." The rebels quickly turn away to run but it was too late, my guards had  already surrounded them. I stand from my throne and walk towards the leader. Demons bowed as I walked past them. "You are very clever I'll give you that. To completely fool all those who put their trust in your, mmh how deliciously despicable." He moved to attack me and I quickly freeze the blood in his feet, making him scream in pain. "Take them all to the dungeon. Make sure this one is ready for his punishment." The guards nod their heads as they drag all the rebels to the dungeon and I decide to turn in early. "Do forgive for the interruption, please enjoy your dinner, I have matters to attend to." They bow their heads and I turn to the door gracefully leaving my throne room, heading towards my bedroom .

The next morning everything was a buzz. The castle staff buzzed with the news of rebels being captured. I worked in my office as one of the maids walked in with a drink. She puts it in front of me and stands waiting for my next demand. "That will be all." she bows and heads out the door. I stay looking at the intel one of my spy brought me. There was about three outposts each spaced out about 15 miles away from each other just outside the kingdom. Each with about 250 demons in each outpost. My next course of action was obvious, attack their outposts and leave no survivors. I stand from my desk and walk out into the children's quarters, making my battle plan in my head.

"Your highness." A petite mahogany demon bows her head and I acknowledge it. "How are the children doing?" She falls into step behind me as she starts filling me in. "They have made remarkable progress and I'd say about a handful will be very great warriors." I nod, thinking it over. "What are their names?" She quickly hands me a folder and I flip through the papers. " These children will be great assets to you, your highness. They showed exceptional tracking skills, exceptional combat skills and there seems to be two children who are natural born leaders." I read through the portfolio of the children, their names stand out to me. These names were unusual even for demons. Liega, age fourteen. Kalliope, age fifteen. Clio, aged ten. Erato, age fourteen. Urania, age nine. Thalia, age three. "Who are the two children?" I close the folder and stare at the demon, who seems to look uncomfortable."That would be Liega and Erato, your majesty. They are the smartest of the children and have tried more than once to escape." A rush suddenly came through my body. "Where are the children now?" Her eyes widened and her voice came out nervous. "They tried escaping three days ago and they are in solitary confinement." Without skipping a beat I let my eye glow. "Take me to them now." She jumped from the power that came through my voice and quickly bowed her head. "Yes, of course your majesty, please follow me."

She led me through several dim hallways and stepped aside when we reached two metal doors. "Do you have the keys?" She nodded quickly and took the keys out. "Open the doors and let them out. " Her eyes widened. "But your highness-" I looked at her intensely. "I am your Queen. Do not disobey me or you will suffer the consequences.  Now open the door and let the children out." I felt my authority flow through me and she tensed. "Now!" She scurried to open the doors and the dark room of the children were lit up by the dim lighting. "Children please come out. Mind your manners." Slowly two children, a boy and a girl, walked out their eyes scanning their surroundings. I slowly let my power flow out of me and felt them tense. "Children bow for the Queen." The children looked at her before looking at me. Their eyes took me in and there was a challenge in their eyes. Everything in me told me to assert my power, and I did just that, letting the full force of my power fill the narrow hallway. The mahogany demon fell to her knees and started wheezing while the children kneeled down slowly, their wide eyes staring at the floor.

"You will bow down to me. I am your Queen, I am your master and you will obey me or pay with your life." The boy stared up at me and something stirred in his eyes. "What will you choose, little one?" He looked deep in thought and glanced at the girl as did she. I could practically feel them coming up with a plan. "We will obey, Your majesty." I smirked they have signed their life over to me and I will make sure they never betray me. "Step forward both of you." I pulled my power into me and the other demon took deep breaths while the children stepped forward. I slashed my wrist and dipped my thumb into the wound letting it get enough of my blood on it.I grabbed each of their hands and with my thumb claw pierced their wrists. Their eyes widen and their face showed the pain they felt. "Disobey me and you will suffer. Betray me and I will make you sure you have a slow, painful death. The only people to blame are your parents. I have saved you and I have given you mercy. Do not disappoint me little ones." Their eyes glazed over as our bond began building and I felt their thoughts enter my head. A smirk made its way into my face, they will never betray me.

"Come along children, It's time to fulfill your roles." They quickly nodded and I turned to walk away. "You will be by my side at all times unless I tell you. Understood?" I felt them walk next to me. "Yes your highness."
