I never expected to be back here in the pack, not after I was humiliated but here I am. The houses look the same except there's more people walking around. Everyone is rushing to some place and the pups are no where to be found. There's a melancholy vibe surrounding the pack members, the cold feeling seeping into my bones. "What happened to the pack?" Caleb sighed from next to me and I shifted my eyes on Kennedy. "This is the one pack left in the states. All the other packs are living in our territory and with so many of the leaders of the pack being killed their members and their kids are feeling the loss. We're trying our hardest to make them feel better but they just can't be consoled." I nod stiffly and we walk into the pack house making our way towards Caleb's office. "When was the last attack?"

"It was about two months ago. They took down Yellowstone's alpha and took the weaker wolves with them. The Luna was hurt while she was protecting the pups in their bunker but she managed to hold it down till we arrived. She's been in the infirmary since." I nod and open the office door to see Will sitting behind the desk reading some papers. "Will we're back." Will looks up and relief showed on his face. "Finally I thought she ate you or something." I rolled my eyes and quickly stepped towards the desk before being stopped by Will. "You're not coming any closer than you already are." I raised an eyebrow and stared into his eyes, challenging him to stop me. His blue eyes held a fire and I felt his challenge, it made my teeth ache. My skin felt like it was rippling before Caleb's voice broke us apart. "Enough we don't need this right now. Right now we need to come up with a war strategy." I scoffed and waived him off. "What you need is to get stronger. Numbers only account for a quarter of the strategy. You need strong wolves on your sides and consoling them isn't what you need. You need to show them that their loss and their anger is valid. You need to bring the power that's humming through their blood to the surface you need to make them determined." Both males looked at me confused while Kennedy was deep in thought. "How exactly do you want us to do that? Most of our wolves are already strong." I rolled my eyes and groaned. "Dear lord do you remember the first time I talked to your father?" Caleb nodded and I continued. "I was barely a few centuries on earth but I was sick of it so I was looking for a gateway to find my mother who is the creator of everything. I was there when she creating everything else. All the wolves, the Faes, the Night walkers, everything."

They stared at me with wide eyes and Will was looking at me with an uncertainty in his eyes as I continued talking. "My mother favored the Wolves. She gave them mates. Mates that were meant to act as yin and yang but she also gave them their beasts. She hated seeing her wolves, her creations being bested by the other species so as the second line of wolves birthed she added the beast but she didn't know how to let them know that they had a part of themselves that can rip their opponent with a single bite."Their jaws were on the floor and I sat down to finish my little tale. "She feared that the power she had blessed them with would cause wars and a shift in the natural balance. But now I think it's necessary." They blinked at me and I sighed, I needed a shower. "How do we do it?" I thought for a second. "Well I'm guessing that if she made it to be the ultimate defense I guess it would have to be if you were in extreme danger. Like if you were against someone who was very dangerous to you. I don't exactly know but I think we should start training your men for it."

To be honest I had no clue how to unleash it. All I know about it was that mother made the wolves like a puzzle their whole existence was a bunch of piece that fit together. The beast side was always their but not really clicked in. It was always almost touching their wolves but never fulling touching. We just had to push it into place but how? I took a look at the three wolves in front of me, the two males were frantically trying to come up with a plan to train their warriors pulling at their hair while Kennedy was quietly thinking. My eyes widened. That's it. Mates are sacred and a blessing they would do anything to protect their mates. I stood up and Kennedy's eyes widened like she knew what I was thinking. Without saying anything I lunged at Kennedy. A cry escaped from Kennedy while Caleb sent a roar my way. I was on the floor fighting with Kennedy when I felt his power throughout the room. There something shifting in the room it was burning hot and it felt like it was wrapping around Caleb. I dragged Kennedy to the opposite side of the room and dragged her to stand, my hand wrapped around her throat, extending my claws, smirking at a furious Caleb and a confused Will. "Come on Caleb. Don't you want your mate to live? You don't want your pup to grow up without his mommy do you?" Caleb was shaking with anger, the hue around him swayed around growing darker and darker. His claws had extended and I leaned to Kennedy making sure my fangs where in full view. "I wonder what would happen if I dug right into her neck, maybe I should destroy this hideous mark on her neck." Caleb was growling viciously his eyes shifting between his wolfs electric green and Caleb's usual dull green. His skin looked like it was rippling, his muscles shifting under his muscles. He was close I just needed a little bit more. "Where's that pup of your Caleb maybe I should take him too." I smirked as he lunged for us, while I just moved out of the way but he was quick he followed me. I saw Will start to grow angry too. Will's eyes were slowly changing into his wolfs and I growled at Will. "Stay out of it. This is Caleb's." He looked at me confused and I shook my head at the thick headed beta.

While I was distracted by Will, Caleb got the jump on me and ripped my hand away from her throat, slamming me against the wall with my throat in his clutches. "Use that anger Caleb come on click that puzzle piece." He was squeezing my throat painfully but I'll be damned if I give up now. He snarled in my face and I grinned. "What? Can't get rid of me? What a pathetic little alpha you are." He growled and squeezed harder, my neck threatening to snap under so much pressure. The blue that surrounded him burned where it touched my skin and I hissed as much as I could with my throat being constricted. My eyes wandered over to Kennedy who was rubbing her neck glaring at me and my eyes found Will who was taking deep breaths to calm himself. It was getting harder to breath and I was quickly wheezing while my head felt light but he was so close I can feel it when he suddenly let me go, making me fall to the floor with a thud. My lung took greedy gasps and my limbs felt like they were asleep slowly waking up.

"Caleb why'd you stop?" His eyes were wide but I knew his wolf was still furious. "I could've killed you, that's why." I rolled my eyes and rubbed my neck. "If you did it would've been a life that started the path to winning this war." He shook his head and I started at Kennedy. "How about you are you angry enough to try to kill me?" She scowled and sent a glare my way. "Find another way to unlock this beast you're speaking off." I scoff and stand up while dusting myself off. I have a lot of thinking to do I guess.
