Caleb's POV

    I sighed as I looked over the papers in my hand. There was a lot more rouge activity around my borders and it made my pack nervous. It didn't help that my mate was threatened by another wolf. I sigh again and my beta walked in, bowing his head. "Alpha the other alphas would like an update on Anais." I groan. Anais has been gone for a while after she brought my mate to me, she's withdrawn from me, from my pack honestly. She used to leave for a few days, then a few weeks, then months and now I'm not sure she'll ever come back. I blame myself for that. I made her think that she was my mate but I can't be completely blamed. I felt so strongly about her that I was convinced she was my mate. I feel absolutely terrible about what I did to her but there's nothing I can change. "I'll try calling her and let the Alphas know that I will give them an update soon." He nods but makes no move to leave. 

  "What is it Will?" I stare at him and his eyes seem hard. It was no secret that he didn't like Anais. "Why is it that every time that girl comes through here you lose all focus?" I stare blankly at him. "What are you talking about?" His eyes held a fire and his face morphs into an angry expression. "I'm not stupid. I've seen the maps you've been studying, the ones She left here." I feel my wolf stir within me. "And what is your point beta?" His face turns harder. "She's not important in the slightest! The most important things here are your mate and this pack! That girl is nothing but a pest." I feel my chest burn with anger and I know my mate felt it. "She is not nothing. Considering that she rules hell and she is potentially stronger than the werewolves put together and knows more than anyone alive right now, it's better to have her as an ally and understand where she has been and what other lands exist, Beta. Now leave." My voice had gotten louder and he bowed his head slightly and walked out of my office, leaving the door open revealing my very pregnant mate. 

  Her blue eyes studied me carefully. I felt myself calm down as her sweet strawberry scent reached my nose. "You shouldn't be walking around baby." I stand up and walk to her, hugging her then kissing her temple. "I felt that you were angry and I wanted to come and make sure that you were safe." My heart skips a beat and I smile. "I'm fine now." She smiles at me and my pulse raced. Meeting Kennedy was the best that ever happened to me. I could never have been able to have met her if Anais would have gone through with my ridiculous rules. The one time she broke my rules turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to me which makes me a little sad because I'm not able to thank her. I know that she loved me and seeing my mate and I together breaks her heart. "I would never be able to thank Anais enough for bringing me to you." I look at my mate. I smile sadly and caress her soft cheeks gently. "Neither would I but I could never. Which reminds me I have to call her for an update but first." I lift Kennedy bridal style and take her back to our house, outside the pack house. 

  I used to live in the castle that Anais built because I missed her so much but after realizing that she wasn't my mate, I moved out and left her castle to her. When ever she visited she stays in the castle and never fails to report to me but like I've said I haven't heard from her for a while. 

  I lay Kennedy in bed and kiss her forehead. Tingles spreading through my lips. "Just rest love. I'll be back after I make the call." She nods and turns the tv on, while I turn around to walk out. "Caleb?" Her soft voice calls me and I turn. "Please let her know I say hi." I give her a smile and nod, then continue to the kitchen where I know Kennedy won't hear me. I love Kennedy with  my whole heart and my whole soul but with Anais, our talks always used to feel intimate, whether or not either of us  wanted them to be. Pulling my phone out, I scroll through my contacts until I see her name and I press on it,pressing the call option. I never bothered to change the picture that I had because to me she'll always be the girl who couldn't take a selfie. I heard the ringing and I hoped that she picked up this time. 

 I almost gave up when I heard a click. "Speak." Her smooth voice filled my ears and I couldn't believe that she was actually speaking to me. Smiling I said " So stiff so unlike you Anais." The other end was quiet and I worried she had hung up. "Alpha Ramos how can I help you?" My smile dropped and I sighed. "I would like to have an update about your whereabouts and how hell is doing." I heard rustling of papers and her voice came through strained. "Of course. If you are available we can discuss this tomorrow at your pack." I mentally ran through my calendar to see if there was anything special tomorrow. "That'd be great how about you come by at 3?" She hums and I hear a soft voice whisper then she says "That sounds like a plan, If that would be all then I will see you tomorrow Alpha." I stare at the ground and before my mouth can stop, I say "Kennedy say hi." My heart beat started going crazy and I was afraid that Kennedy would feel it. There was an intake of breath and then a long pause. "Yes, Of course Kennedy. Goodbye Alpha." Her voice was strained and I felt terrible when I heard the line go dead. I sighed and threw my phone on the counter, everything changed and while the change was great for me it was terrible for her but I would never change it. 

  The next day I was nervous. The only girl I ever loved besides my mate is coming to meet with me and I had no idea how to talk to her anymore. It used to be so easy, I knew her and I knew how we were, but now I have no clue. I don't know her anymore and that scary. 

   The next day, I sat in my office focusing on the papers in front of me until Will mind linked me telling me she was here. I felt my palms get sweaty and there was a bowling ball at the bottom of my stomach. I take a deep breath and mind link Kennedy. I don't think I can deal with Anais and Will in the same room without having my mate here to calm me down.

Baby can you come to my office please?  She replies with a simple okay and I relax but just a little. There was a knock on the door and then the door opened. Will walked through the door with Anais and two children. I stare at the children and realize their eyes are green like Anais' . Their eyes scan the office and settle on me. A chill runs through me and I stop myself from showing it. "Alpha Ramos it has been quite a while." Anais voice fills the room and I see Will tense from beside me. Her voice is sultry and its change so much since last time she was here. 

  "Anais please take a seat. We have a lot to catch up on."
