I called out to her in a soft whisper. And when she looked at me, I thought that I could die from happiness. If I did, I would be content.
"Yes?" She always knew when I had to say something.
"Are you happily married? How's Sungkyu?" I asked as happy as I could, my voice laced with fake courtesy.
The moment my words reached her ears, I could see her flinch and her beautiful eyes lose its direction, shaking.
"Where is he?" My voice turned stern, my eyes hardening with disappointment, not at her and her daughter but at the male. "Did he—?"
Did he leave her? Did he betray her?
I swear if he hurt her after leaving her pregnant, I was going to murder him. I was going to torture him.
How could he do that?
To my Princess, so precious and so beautiful...and the little Princess.
They were both so priceless and indescribably a treasure, anyone would be a fool to hurt them. They were criminals.
And hurting my princesses, I was going to wring his neck...
"N-no!" She stammered. "Jin—He's gone." Her eyes carefully watching her daughter that ate blissfully. "Not in this realm anymore."
"Wh-what?" I stopped and put my fork down on the table. It was unexpected. I had not thought that he would be gone so soon. We were so young. My Princess didn't lie. It wasn't her thing to do. She was just choosing her words carefully because of Su, their daughter. "How?"
"A drunk...trucker." She whispered, her eyes never leaving her precious child. Su was precious, so precious, I loved her already. "It was raining..."
"Oh...Princess," I blurted out my heart hurting for the pain behind Princess' orbs. "I'm sorry."
She blinked her eyes and stared at me.
"What? Is there something on my face?" I panicked as I didn't want to embarrass myself in front of her.
"No...it's just you called me..." she trailed off.
"I called you...?" I asked. What had I called her?
"Princess," she said, "you used to call me that in high school."
Oh...it had been my name for her for so long that I had not even known that it was peculiar.
"I did. I do..." my voice got softer as I spoke. I didn't want her to think I was creepy or that I said to all women. It was just her. "Only for you..."
"..." Princess didn't say anything in particular after that. Though, her eyes were stuck on my face and I could feel the cheeks that flared in heat.
After all these years and despite being in my thirties, I still blushed like a elementary schooler in love.
"Let's eat." I picked up the fork before cutting up the lasagna. I placed some on her plate and urged her to eat, my eyes waiting for her to eat. "Eat, you look like you need it."
"That's not what people say." She paused. Her face was nearly back to normal. I could almost see her high school sass return. "You know, you really haven't changed."
"Huh?" I looked up with a scoop of lasagna in my mouth. She giggled, and I was shown a glimpse of paradise.
"Jin, you always used to do this."
"Do what?" What did I do?
I stared at her, think about her, dream about her, mast...never mind.
"Feed me. You used to constantly give me food, almost nonstop."
"Did I?" Thinking about it, I did always have food on me...and since that was all I could give...
"Yes. Namjoon used to complain to me all the time." She remembered as distant memories revisited her. There was a smile on her face and it made me blissful. "Since you wouldn't share with him."
"Yeah, well he needed to get his own food." I snorted as I remembered how he used to steal my food all the time, the sneaky punk. But now it was good memories of old times. "He was always hungry!"
My Princess chuckled softly. "I almost thought you were making fun of me by trying to get me fatter."
I frowned at that.
"You're not fat!" I choked as there was still food in my mouth. "I would never. You're beaut—!" I coughed and she smiled as she gave me her water.
"Drink. You're going to choke. And the females in the world are going to kill me if I kill you." She joked, her laughter bright. It made her daughter look up and she smiled brighter.
"No..." I gulped the water down, calming my tubes and lungs. "You're beautiful. You really are."
"Thank you." Princess smiled that soul stealing smile. "I know, you're really kind..."
