Isn't this book just a sweetheart?

👑

Our date had to come to an end soon. It was now past noon, Princess was waiting for us to return home.

Before we could return though, Su wanted ice cream to end her date with me. I didn't mind, since our date had been pretty mellow and she was always a good girl.

It made me happy to be able to treat her—spoil her like she deserved.

"Jin?"

"Yes?" I answered as I enjoyed my icy treat. I looked over at her who held her ice cream in her small hands. It was melting. She loved ice cream, so why would she be letting it melt.

I turned to some puppy barking nearby.

"When will you be my papa?"

"W-what?" I didn't even notice the fact that I dropped my ice cream. I turned back to Su, her eyes still focused on her ice cream. "Su...?"

Such an innocent question that was like an oasis in a desert.

"I h-heard you got mama a ring!" Su smiled, her teeth showing. "It sparkles?! It has to sparkles!" She said with much glee.

"Who told you that?" I felt a ringing sensation in my chest. I had been found out.

It was true. I had actually bought the ring months ago, but hadn't been able to pop the question to Princess.

I thought no one knew about it...but I had been wrong.

"I know." Su peered at me with her eyes. "Why didn't you give it to her yet?"

"Well...how about you?" I asked her first. "Do you want...are you okay with...can I be...your...?"

"Dad?" She nodded, "You can be my dad."

"R-really?" My eyes became wide, as my mind forgot about the fallen ice cream on the floor. Ice cream became inconsequential compared to what Little Princess had said.

"Yes."

I didn't know if I should cry or not.

"It's okay," Su patted my back. "Don't cry. Prince Charmings don't cry."

Little Su came to hug me, her small arms wrapping around my neck. I had been crying apparently.

"Thank you, Jin." Su smiled in her voice and I could feel myself get even more emotional.

"No, Su...thank you." I held her delicately, her body still so small.

As we walked, she held my hand tightly and I couldn't help but feel that this was meant to be.

"Oh, when do you think I'll get a brother? Or a sister?" She asked so innocently. "Will you make one today with mommy? Since I'll be with Hyuk tonight?"

I coughed. "What?"

"That's what he said. His younger sister went inside his mom's belly only when he wasn't there." Such innocence and sweetness. "I hope you hold mommy's hand tight so I won't have to wait long..."

"Okay," I coughed as I turned embarrassingly red.

This date was making me more nervous than anything.
