My mom comes and wakes me up around 5:30 a.m. to get ready for school. I get up and go to my closet to find something to wear. I have a hard time deciding between a really cute floral dress or jeans and a light pink top. I feel like the dress is cuter, but the top and jeans is more comfortable. I decide to go with the floral dress and black flats, just incase there are some cute guys there, which there probably will be. I throw my hair into the usual ponytail and my long, blonde hair sways down to my lower back. I push some of the stray hairs back with a black headband that complements the dress. I swipe some mascara over my long eyelashes and put a little bit of rose pink lipgloss on. I feel like I look pretty good for the first day and I feel confident in myself, for the first time in a long time.

I grab my backpack off of my table, which is filled with all the supplies I need, even a homemade lunch, courtesy of my mom. I yell up to her to come take me to school, I grab the keys and we leave.

My mom pulls up to the front of the school and I can already see Calum and two other guys standing with him. One has bright green hair and the other is tall, but looks shy. The green-haired guy must've said something funny because I see them all erupt in laughter. I give a quick kiss to my mom and I step out of the car. Calum meets my eye and runs up to me, giving me a big hug.

"HI MARI!" he yells excitedly.

I mimic him with my reply, "HI CALUM!"

"Okay let me introduce you to my friends Michael," he says pointing to the guy with green hair, "And Luke." Luke looks at me, we say hi, and we make eye contact, but he quickly looks down at his feet. I think I can see him blush a little bit.

"I really like your dress!" Michael says enthusiastically.

"Thanks! I really like your hair!" I compliment him.

"Thank you!" He smiles.

"Alright, now that everybody knows everybody, let's go inside!" Calum says, pointing his finger to the door. He holds the door open for everyone and we enter the school.

The halls are filled with students of all ages running to their lockers and classes. I need help finding mine, but Calum and Michael have to get to their class across the school. It turns out that Luke and I are going to the same room, so he comes to help me with my locker. He starts to point out some of the classrooms to me and leads me down many different hallways in order to find my locker. Finally, we get there and I open it with one try. I put some of my books in and he helps me carry the ones I need for the next class, along with his. "You're such a gentleman Luke," I say to him.

"Thanks but it's really no big deal. Anything to help out a friend," He says with a smile.

The way he smiles makes me feel really happy, and I smile back.

Once we are in class, I find a seat behind Luke; I want to be near him because he's the only person I know in the class. The teacher is able to catch me up on a lot of the material they've been learning and I would say I'm decently smart so I could understand a lot of it. As our teacher puts up his presentation, I get a good look at the back of Luke. His light blond hair is up in a quiff, which looks great on him. He is wearing a Nirvana three-quarter length shirt with a couple holes in it. His black skinny jeans also have holes in the knees. And he is just wearing black shoes. He has bright blue eyes and a little pointed nose. I especially liked his black lip ring; it made him look punk. I soon realise I've been staring at him for a long time and I quickly look away. I blush and I hope no one sees.

The class ended with our teacher giving us a homework assignment and then we all got up and left. Luke held the door for me and we both walked back to my locker. "Thanks for helping me. I really appreciate it," I say as I smile at him.

"No problem, Marilyn," he replies and I start to turn away. "Wait!" he says desperately, "You should come hang out with me, Michael, Calum, and another friend of ours, Ashton. I think we're going to Wendy's after school."

"Yeah that sounds great Luke! I guess I'll just meet you out front again at the end of the day."

"It's a date then!" Luke soon realises what he said and gets really embarrassed. "I... Uh... Sorry, I meant..."

"Luke, I know what you meant," I say reassuringly, "I'll see you guys at the end of the day." We say goodbye and walk to our next classes.

All throughout the day I can't help but think of what Luke said. Did that mean that he likes me? Or was it just nerves? I have no idea.
