A/N Hi so I don't usually do an author's note in the beginning but I feel like I should warn you that there is some sexual content in here. It's nothing really major; it's more like the stuff that happens before that stuff happens. Lol I'm so awkward. Okay so now that's settled, I present to you, the first chapter of The Art of Playing Pretend! Oh yeah and this is not edited okay bye.

I started up at my ceiling as I was thinking about what would happen when I entered school. I turned my head looked at my clock; it was five in the morning. I turned my head back to look up at the ceiling.

Go back to sleep. I thought. Ugh, pointless.

Today's the start of senior year. This was going to be the last year of high school, which I'm pretty glad of. I don't like school. I turn onto my right side. And today is also the day I get to see Matt, my boyfriend. I haven't seen him since July because he's been out of town. I couldn't wait to finally see him. But I should really get some sleep. I don't have to wake up for another fifty minutes. So I closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep.

"Vi!" I turned around to see who called my name. I internally groaned when I saw who called me. It was Kira Waters, one of the most annoying girls I've ever met. And sadly, she's my next door neighbor.

"Hey Kira," I said, forcing a smile.

"So," she said in that annoying squeaky voice of hers. "Can I go home with you?"

I rolled my eyes. The only reason she ever asks to go to my house is to see my dad. Yeah, I know, it's creepy.

"Well, my dad is actually out of tow-"

"Oh then never mind," Kira said. "I'll see you later!" And she walked away.

I sighed and entered my school. Everyone was hugging each other and talking about their summers, and catching up with each other.I don't really have many friends because a lot of people just use me to see my dad. When I was younger, it used to only be parents who would force their kids to befriend me because they wanted to meet my dad. And now as a teenager, girls want to be friends with me because my dad is "hot". It makes me want to gag.

"Violet!" I turned around to see Lizzy run to me with her arms open wide. Once she got to me she wrapped her arms around me and gave me a tight squeeze.

"Lizzy?" I yelled, wrapping my arms around her. "Finally, someone who won't use me!"

"Oh I know," Lizzy said. "I saw and heard you and Kira. She asked me earlier if she can come over to my house."

I laughed. "Will she ever give up?"

"Probably not, she doesn't give up easily. She's been doing this since eighth grade, she wouldn't give up now."

"True."

"Is your dad really out of town?"

"Nope."

We laughed and started to walk towards the lunch tables. Once we were there, we spotted Xander at a table in a corner. We headed towards him.

"Hey," Lizzy and I said. She sat across from Xander and I sat next to him.

"Hey," Xander said.

"I saw a crowd today," I said. "Was that because of you and your dad?"

"Yup, my dad wanted to take me to school."

"Uncle Calum should know better. Driving you to a place infested with teenage girls is dangerous," Lizzy said. "Have you talked to Danny?"

Xander shrugged and I pressed my lips together. She should know the answer to that.
