I gently rubbed circles into Lizzy's back as she cried against the lockers. I swear to God, I'll find Danny and kill him. No one does this to her.

What the hell is wrong with him? Yeah I get that he's hurt, but he seriously hurt Lizzy too, his best friend. Lizzy is going through a rough time right now and support is all she needs.

"Guys," she said weakly. "I'm fine, just go to class."

"No," Xander protested. "You're nowhere near fine."

"Yeah," I said. "We're not leaving you when you're like this."

"No, I just really want to be alone right now. I think I'm going to call my dad and ask him to bring me home. After what just happened, I really don't feel like being in class."

"Oh," I said. "Okay. We'll see you tomorrow then?"

"Maybe," she said.

I leaned forward and wrapped my arms around her shoulders. "I'm sorry this had to happen to you," I whispered.

She slid her arms around my waist and tightly hugged back. After a few seconds, she broke our embrace, gave Xander and I a weak smile, and head to the front office.

"I've never seen her like that. Not since her mom died," Xander said.

"Well wouldn't you if your best friend did that to you?"

"Yeah, I guess," he sighed. "Can't it just go all back to normal?"

"Maybe one day," I said hopefully.

"Is he here?" I asked Xander, looking around carefully. He rolled his eyes in response. "Xander," I said sternly.

He sighed. "He's behind you."

I carefully looked to my left, and at the corner of my eye, I could see Matt a table behind me, staring into my back.

I quickly turned back to Xander. "He's looking at us. Kiss me."

"What? No!"

"Oh come on, we did it before!"

"Yeah, because you caught me by surprise."

"Please! I'll pay you!"

"No! What's wrong with you?"

"Many things, Xander. Please, do this for me."

"No, Vi."

"If you love me you'll kiss me," I said.

Xander stiffened and an emotion flash in his eyes. He blinked his eyes and the emotion was gone, then he groaned and rubbed his temples. "Violet, you're going to be the death of me," he said. He leaned over the lunch table and cupped my face with his hands.

"Whoa, what are you doing?" I asked, my heartbeat accelerating.

"You asked for it," Xander whispered, his minty breath fanning my lips. He pressed his lips softly against mine, moving in a tortuously slow pace.

Holy shit.

I wrapped my arms around his shoulders and kissed him deeper. I could hear the cafeteria grow silent as Xander and I continued with our activity. To my surprised, Xander pried my lips open and made our kiss even deeper.
