Death comes sweeping through the hallway, like a lady's dress
Death comes driving down the highway, in it's Sunday best
You look out the window as the car passes by a sign that reads Big Texas Towing and Salvage Yard. It had been a long time since you had last been to Texas, but one thing you that you knew to expect was that people here loved big things and judging by the name of the business and the size of the sign, that hadn't changed.
You turn your head to look at your brothers in the front seat; Dean is driving and Sam is sleeping next to him with his mouth open. You watch as Dean starts to search for something and a few seconds later his hand comes up with a plastic spoon, which he puts in Sam's mouth.
You make a noise of disgust, which draws Dean's attention away from Sam. He shoots you a grin as he pulls his phone out of his pocket. He hands it to you, pointing to Sam and mimicking someone taking a picture before he returns his attention to the road. You sigh but do as Dean requests; you hate to admit it, but this would make a good blackmail picture. You hand Dean his phone back when an idea pops into your head. You lean across the bench seat, turning up the music.
You glance at Dean, who somehow understands what you want to do. As the chorus picks up again, you and your older brother both begin to sing along loudly and horribly off-key, "Fire of unknown origins took my baby away!"
Sam jerks awake and realizes that there was something in his mouth. He panics and waves his arms as he spits the spoon out of his mouth and onto the floor. Dean drums along to the song on the steering wheel, sharing a grin with you as Sam wipes his mouth and reaches out to turn down the music, "Haha, very funny." Sam shoots you both a scowl as he leans back.
You snort slightly, Sam was always so uptight, "Relax, Sammy. We're just trying to give ourselves some scenery. If you haven't noticed, there isn't a lot of it in East Texas."
"Man, we're not kids anymore, guys. We're not going to start this shit up again." Sam's warning brings you back to your childhood, where days on the road always ended up with a prank war between the three of you. Dean and you somehow always were on the same side by the end of every prank war, which was probably unfair, but you were kids.
Dean tries to act innocent, "Start what up?"
"The prank stuff," Sam replies, looking out the window, "It's stupid and it always escalates."
"You scared that you're going to end up with Nair in your shampoo again?" That had been how your last prank war had ended. You had been back from college for summer break and Dean had started a prank war for old time's sake. You had come up with the idea to put the Nair in Sam's shampoo and it had not gone over well with him. He refused to speak to you until his hair had grown back the week before you had to leave again for college.
"All right." You could almost hear the ideas starting to run through Sam's head, "Just remember, you two started it."
"Ah ha, bring it on, baldy," Dean jests before returning his focus to the road in front of him.
The car falls silent again; the only sound being the new song coming from the speakers;
Now there's a flash in the distance
Storm clouds are spreading their fingers
And I can feel your resistance
"Where are we anyway?" Sam turns his body to face you, not wanting to distract Dean from his driving any more than he had to.
"We have a few hours to go until we reach Richardson," You answer, glancing down at the map by your side. You had just passed through a town called Eufaula, so it would be close to 3 hours until you arrived, "Can you run through the case again?"
