"oh, really?" hana's eyes widened at the fact that jamison actually recognized her nickname. "you're from australia, huh!"

actually, she didn't know why she asked that question in the first place. his strong accent gave it away when he first uttered the idiotic words out of his mouth.

"surprised ya didn't know," he chuckled in response. "i've been sure by how i sounded, you would have guessed earlier on."

hana didn't respond, but awkwardly giggled in embarrassment while playing with her hair.

jamison decided to save the conversation by prying more into his lore. "ya, well... i don't have a very good reputation there. i don't have a good reputation anywhere, actually. if you think about it, it's probably because i'm close to what they'd call a damn thief."

hana stopped fiddling strands of her hair in between her fingers to look up at the blonde. "a thief? why? what'd you do?"

"i mean, nothing too serious. don't worry 'bout it, darl." jamison smirked mischievously to himself.

"something tells me otherwise." hana replied, her hands crossing again.

the male failed to keep eye contact and looked down at the fire, avoiding looking at her face. it kind of astonished hana; seeing a man this bold not owning up.

"dunno. this mess turned my town into a literal scrap yard. while i was there, there wasn't really much i could fuck around with besides explosives and bombs and what-not. probably why i'm like this now. but i just couldn't live in that trash bin anymore, so i decided to head off. that's how i resorted to stealing." jamison shrugged nonchalantly.

"so..." hana angled her brows. "that's it? what'd you steal...?"

before he could respond, the guilty boy spotted something in the corner of his eye. it was a figure, inching closer and closer behind the girl awaiting for an answer. he squinted, staying silent before getting up and peering in on the mysterious silhouette.

"hello?" hana flailed her arms to catch his attention. she thought it was just his scuffed up vision.

"yea yea, i hear you," he whispers ignorantly as he reached behind his straps and pulls out what seemed to be the same explosives set at meka's feet, piercing deja vu atop hana's head. he quickly lit up the end of the line with the fire conveniently burning in front of him.

"what're you doing now?" hana instinctively backed up.

jamison still fell silent. he threw what was in his hand over to where his paranoia teased him; and not long after, a loud bang grumbled under the floor beneath.

she turned back at the smoke in shock, hissing at the pain it caused her body to even move completely. "the heck was that for?" she automatically questioned. but, she soon realized what laid on the floor once the smoke had cleared from the air.

"c'mon." jamison had no other words as he got up and stomped out the fire, grabbing onto hana's forearm forcefully in an attempt to drag her out of the situation.

"ow," the girl responded to his grasp. she was still facing towards the zombie he just obliterated.

"'yer whole body is about to be ow if ya don't move." he was being extremely blunt out of no where, still dragging hana further inside the tent.

she stayed silent, as she was just a little scared of him at the moment.

jamison made it to a stack of pillows in the corner of the hut, snaking his arm around hana's shoulders for support as he laid her down bridal style in the fluffy mush. he quickly grabbed a raggedy blanket of some-sort and threw it over her with a sigh.

she just laid there, eyes wide open as she was comfortably placed in a bundle of pillows. her thin lips were still closed shut, not uttering anything more than a simple "huh?"

"'aight. it's gettin' to your bed-time now, so–"

"i have a bed-time now? you never told me what you stole."

"oi, don't interrupt me!"

"my bad."

"yea. anyway, time for you to sleep. it's gettin' too late outside and the creepers will start comin' if ya don't get inside quick." without another word, the tired boy patted hana's head as softly as he could, getting up from his kneeling stance to exit the tent and pull the covers over so she was secure.

'what was that?' was all that hana could think. it all happened so fast. they were talking about him, and then all of the sudden– he got so defensive? it was just a little zombie, she could've just fled herself... yet she was so scared to even move an inch of her body at that moment. she let it be and forced herself to fall drowzy and asleep.

where was he even going? 'hopefully he didn't go off to fight them on his own,' hana could only think. it prevented her from getting at least a minute of shut-eye.
