“let me see her!” i shouted angrily to the receptionist at the hospital frantically running my fingers through my wild, unkempt hair.

“calum!” luke shouted restraining my flailing arms with his. “calum calm down!”

“i won’t calm down until i can see my girlfriend!” i cried breaking away from luke and storming off. i slammed my fists against the plain beige walls, turning my back to it and sliding down slowly as the tears began to fall. “why can’t i see her?”

“she doesn’t remember you,” luke whispered sitting down beside me.

“how come she remembers you and not me?” i sniffled.

“i don’t know cal, not even the doctors know. we’re trying as hard as we can to get her to remember.”

“please,” i begged my voice cracking. “just let me see her.”

“i can’t calum, you know i can’t,” luke said sadly tears forming in his own eyes.

i sighed angrily and slammed my head back against the wall in frustration. crossing my arms over my chest a crunching noise came from the pocket of my flannel. as soon as i heard it i remembered the letter’s i’d written, stuffed tightly in an envelope with some of my favourite pictures of dani and me.

“can you give this to her then please?” i begged pulling out the envelope and forcing it into luke’s hands. “please? it might help her remember me.”

“of course cal, i want her to remember you, we all do. we hate seeing you like this,” luke replied silent tears now escaping his eyes.

he got up off the ground from beside me and gave me one last look before walking down the corridor to what i assumed was the ward dani was being kept in.

“i’ll just wait here then,” i mumbled to myself pulling out my phone and flipping through my apps in boredom.
