I woke up to Kells shifting around, trying to get out of bed without waking me as I'd seemed to fall asleep curled up in his arms.
I wearily opened my eyes "Good morning,"
"Oh. Did I wake you?"
"Kind of but it's okay. What time is it?" I asked him. He checked his phone and only then I realised the stony expression on his face
"8," he replied bluntly
"What's wrong?"
Kells hesitated "Nothing,"
"Colson,"
"It's just work stuff, don't worry. I just gotta make some calls," He explained "I'm sorry,"
"It's fine, I'll go to the spa or something. You'll come to breakfast with me though?" I asked, wanting to spend a little time with him before he was bombarded with work
"Course I will. And I promise that as soon as I'm done I will go to the beach with you. I want to make this trip special," Kells said, taking my hands in his
"You will. You already have,"
"I love you,"
"I love you too," I replied, before gently kissing him and walking into the bathroom. The shower was huge and suddenly an idea popped into my mind "I'm having a shower; if you want to join me," I heard Kells get off the bed and practically run into the bathroom
"I'd love to,"I returned from my spa morning at about midday, Kells was still on his laptop.
"Are you almost done?" I asked him
"No but I don't care anymore I need to spend time with you. And there's a cute little beach cafe thing that we can go to for lunch,"
I laughed "I have never heard you describe something as cute and little,"
"Well I just did so let's get ready and go eat because I'm starving,"It was a quaint cafe serving burgers and salads made to order. I got a vegetarian burger as being pregnant somehow made me want to avoid beef and pork at all costs and a tomato and chicken salad as a side because the only thing I had had since the morning was a glass of water; not ideal when you're eating for two. Kells ordered a burger with basically everything you would ever put in a burger, x3.
"How are you going to eat that?" I asked when our food arrived
"I'm a growing boy I need to eat," He said in between mouthfuls of the giant burger
"You're 6foot 4," I said
"Growing,"
I rolled my eyes and just gave up before beginning to eat my own food. It was delicious, and from our table we had a beautiful, picturesque view of the sandy beach and turquoise waters ahead of us. It was beautiful, and I wished I'd worn a bikini under my clothes rather than normal underwear. Before I knew it, Kells had taken a picture of me looking at the view. The camera shutter sound went off and I turned my attention back to him
"Yes?"
"Nothing," I replied. Kells handed me his phone; he had taken the picture for his Instagram story and I read the text along side it "The view is good but she's better? Really? Colson Baker you make music for a living and that was the best you could come up with?"
"I thought it was cute,"
"You're such a dad," I said with a smile before playfully punching him on the arm
He grinned at me "You just sit there and eat your burger whilst I have the time of my life with my instagram story,"
"I will," I replied. I felt my phone vibrate in my back pocket. Casie was FaceTiming us so of course I picked up
"Hi Chloe!"
"Hey Cas, did you just get back from school?"
"It's Cas?" Kells asked me. I nodded "Excuse me daughter why did you FaceTime Chloe instead of me?" He said, dramatising the fake hurt in his voice
"Dad! Wait Chloe turn me around," Cas said. Per her wishes, I turned my phone around so Kells could see her adorable face on my phone screen "Hi dad!"
"Hey, are you having a good time with Pete?"
"Yeah! He took me to Dunkin doughnuts after school and now we're on the film set," Casie continued to babble on about her day to us. As much as I loved this vacation, my heart ached when I heard Casie talking as I missed the little ray of sunshine so much.
