This time, our flight wasn't until about 2 in the afternoon, so we weren't leaving until around mid morning. Ariana had to fly to New York suddenly for an important meeting with her manager, but Pete obviously had to stay and work on the film. He evidently missed her but Kells was keeping his spirits high. I was a little worried about leaving Casie alone with him for two days, he didn't seem like a paternal kind of guy, whereas if Ariana was here my mind would be more at ease as she seemed quite motherly from what I had gathered from her conversations with Casie. I had expressed my doubts to Kells, but he dismissed them
"She'll be fine, Pete's great with kids," He tried to tell me
"Really?" I asked, raising my eyebrow
"Yes, now relax. We're going to have a good time," Kells insisted.

As soon as we stepped off the plane, a wave of hot air washed over us. I loved it. Heat and sun just seemed to be different when you were on vacation; everything was better when you were on vacation. Kells seemed agitated. I think it was the stress of the movie and working on his album. I took his hand and gave it a reassuring squeeze
"You okay?"
"Yeah," he replied, barely looking up from his phone, still replying to emails. I didn't really know what else to say, so I just silently followed him to customs where thankfully he put away his phone. "Sorry, work stuff. And Pete didn't know what to cook Cas for dinner," He explained
"What did you tell him to make?"
"I didn't. I told him to order a pizza, he can't cook to save his life,"
"Pete's great with kids," I mocked
"Ha ha, very funny. Stay here, I'll go get our bags," Kells said, before walking towards the conveyor belt and taking one of the suitcases off; I went to go collect it from him.

We arrived at the hotel at half seven, and changed quickly into something more formal and going to dinner at the restaurant in the hotel, I hadn't eaten since we boarded the plane and was starving. It was really nice until Kells got out his phone to reply to do more work. He was missing an EST fest meeting this week so I guessed he was catching up on that, which was fair enough but I still longed to be his top priority, just for a few precious days before I would barely see him.
"You want a relationship with me or that phone because at the minute it seems like the phone," I said, causing Kells to look up
"Sorry. In fact, here you go," He handed his phone to me "This is yours for the rest of the night,"
"You can have it I just don't want to be ignored for a week and then rarely see you when you start doing the movie," I explained, hoping he would understand
"Nope it's yours. You will have my undivided attention because I love you, Chloe Baker,"
I smiled and leaned across the table to kiss him. I loved kissing him, it made me feel protected and in the moment everything was perfect. It also brought back memories of high school parties. Getting glammed up with your friends, whilst having the ore drinks you don't need because you'll get wasted when you're there anyway, and drunkenly stumbling into a bedroom with someone that in the moment you convince yourself will be the person you're destined to be with forever. My drunken hopes weren't too far off, actually; 16 year old me would be thrilled to know that she would end up with the tall, blond and gorgeous boy that she frequently saw in detention, and lusted over before finally hooking up in her friend's guest bedroom.

Those same thoughts whizzed round and round my brain that night. Kells had pulled me closer to him than he normally would when we were cuddling that night, and kissed me on the top of the forehead.
"I love you," I said
"I lo-" But before he finished that sentence, I drifted off to sleep.
