Chap.14

Luke's POV
I came out of the bathroom with a towel wrapped around my waist.
" what are we going to do today" I was startled as I looked up to see Katie hanging off my bed to where her hair was on the ground.
" uh I don't know" I said
" Lil asked if she could come over my house so I picked her up and the boys were excited to see her." Katie said as she sat up to sit criss-cross on my bed.
" oh ok" I said and got my tooth brush and began to brush my teeth.
" we should go to the beach" She said
" uh the beach is like two hours away we wouldn't really have a full day there" I said
"Hmmm" she said thinking and bit her lip. I walked into the bathroom because it drove me wild when she did that.
" could you get dressed" she asked getting impatient
I turned to her with my toothbrush in my mouth " why maybe I want to spend my whole day in a towel" I said and raised an eyebrow at her.
she squinted her eyes at me. " come on I want to hang out today" she groaned.
" what! Do we not hang out enough every other day. Katie we hang out everyday" I chuckled
" oh so are you saying that you are tired of me? Fine I'm going home" she said and got up to walk out the door.
" what! no no Katie," I said rushing over to her and grabbed her arm."I love hanging out with you, I was just messing with you" I said
" why" she looked up at me.
" because I can" I said and smirked at her and she rolled her eyes and pushed me.
" your an idiot" she said with the biggest smile on her face " now get dressed and I'm going to eat something" she said  and started to walk down the hallway.
I walked into my room and started to dry off with my towel. Katie walked back into my room, leaning her head in the doorway. " I'm dumb, do you want anything to....." she trailed off and her eyes widened. The front door opened and closed. I slid on a pair of shorts and started to slowly walk down the steps Katie trailing behind me. We got to the bottom of the steps and started to the kitchen. When I saw her.
" mom?" I was surprised, no no I was shocked. She turned around and smiled.
" Hi honeyy" she said, her speech was slurred, which led me to think that she was drunk.
" long time no see mom" I said starting to get mad.
" hi honey" she repeated again. But she wasn't looking at me this time,  she was looking at Katie.
" oh my goshhh you have gotten soooo big, how long has it been" she started to cry.
" mom, mom this isn't Lilly" I said stepping in front of Katie, when my mom is drunk she tends to lash out and call people really mean names. "Lilly is over at a friends house for a sleepover" I said looking back at Katie, she nodded her head.

" so who are you" my mother said bitterly quickly snapping out of crying.  
" I'm Katie" she said sweetly and walked around me to extend her hand.
" violet" my mom said sternly, and narrowed her eyes at Katie, " you're a hooch" she said glaring at Katie.
" excuse me" she said taken aback.
" well Katie you were just leaving correct" I said to her. She nodded her head.
" it was nice meeting you violet" she said as I scurried her toward the door.
We walked out to her truck "I am beyond sorry for this" I said " but I have to handle this and get her out" I said looking down at Katie.
" I understand" she said and nodded her head. " call me later"
" I'll do you one better" I said and she raised her eyebrows. " I'll be over later, going to need an escape from her and I will explain everything." She smiled and started to walk to open the truck door.
I grabbed her to hug her. " and thank you for watching Lilly" I whispered. She nodded her head
"just remember to breath, it will all be ok" she said with a reassuring smile and got into her truck.

I took a deep breath and walked back into the kitchen. My mom had found the alcohol and started drinking more.
" um mom do you really think that's a good idea." I said walking over to take the bottle out of her hands.
" yes I want it" she said and pulled the bottle out of my hands. It shattered to the ground and she looked at me with hate in her eyes. "Look what you have done" she said through her teeth. I took a deep breath to calm myself.  She continued to scream at me for a good half an hour until she finally calmed down.
"mom you need to sit down" I said she rolled her eyes but sat down at the kitchen table.
" why are you here" I asked.
she started to cry again. " mom" I said again.
" because" was all she said and cried some more.
I sighed," fine you can stay here the night but only one night then you have to leave" I said " we will talk more in the morning"
" no you can't just kick me out of my own home" she yelled at me.
" well I'm sorry you put me and Lilly through hell and right now we are great. At this point in life we are happy, Lilly is happy for the first time in a long while and honestly I don't need you breaking her down again." I told her, even though it pained me to kick my own mother out she was toxic to Lilly and I and we have been better since she has been gone.
