I woke up and turned my alarm clock off and checked my phone. I groaned 4am was an awful time to wake up. I pulled jeans on and threw a sweatshirt over my tee shirt. I stumbled down the steps and grabbed my keys. I started to walk out the house, when I ran back in for a cup of coffee.
I arrived at the rodeo and turned on all the lights and walked through to the barn. I chatted to the horses, I fed the horses then I started to turn them out in their pasture and started to muck out their stalls. I was almost done when I had to pee, the closest bathroom was in the locker room so I walked in. I turned on the lights and ran into the bathroom. I came out and washed my hands then walked back to the barn.
I walked out of the locker room and finished in the barn. It was around 5:30 am when I finished sweeping the barn so I decided to take a scrub brush and start scrubbing down the walls of the barn, it didn't seem like they have ever been scrubbed so it took a little bit of elbow greece but I finally got the true color of the paint back up. I sighed finishing the last spot, I looked back at my work and smiled, the barn looked ten times better. The sun started to come up so I opened up the big barn doors to let some sunshine in. I decided since I was bored all week that I was just going to start cleaning up the barns. I then walked out of the barn and started to scrub water tubs and fill them back up. I looked at my phone and it was only 9:00am. I sighed I didn't have anything to do at home so I decided to continue to clean the barn. I got down and started to scrub the floor as well. I saw that is wasn't doing such a good job so I decided to call Chip.
"hello" he said answering his phone. " hi Chip it's Katie" I said " hey Katie, hows my barn" He asked. " it's good, just finished sweeping" I lied, I kind of wanted it to be a surprise. "good good, the boys said hi" He said I laughed. " I have just a quick question" I said " yeah sure what is it" He asked " well I was wondering if you have a power washer, because I need to borrow one" I said "uh yeah it's in the back shed next to the first pasture by the big barn doors." He said, "oh awesome thanks" I said. " do you want me to say hi to anyone in particular" Chip chuckled "say hi to Luke for me" I said. "Will do" he said," I'll see you soon" he said and hung up.
I walked out of the barn and grabbed the power washer and started to spray the floors. It looked ten times better, made it look like a whole new barn floor. I finished and I was amazed at how good it looked. I turned off the machine and walked outside, the wind blew and I shivered, realizing that my shirt and sweatshirt were soaked through. I walked into the locker room, remembering passing Luke's locker I opened it up hoping to find a sweatshirt that I could borrow, I looked in and saw a hoodie hanging up. I peeled off my tee shirt and sweatshirt and put his on, it smelled just like him. I went to close his locker door when something stopped me, I pulled the door open wider and looked at a picture that he attached to his door. I smiled at the picture, It was a picture of me driving, I never saw him take the photo but it was the cutest thing ever. I smiled he was so incredibly sweet.
