Chapter 13

Unwanted Surprises.

Christian and I spent the rest of the day in silence. Only when it came time to find the new location did we speak. In my opinion, even when we didn't have a client set up, we still needed to move. I only let myself stay in one place for a few days, do some business, and get the hell out of that state.

We decided to go to California and stay in the northern part of the state. I liked the state itself, and Christian wanted to stay in the less populated area. Thus we decided on the northern part with all the mountains. It would be a nice change of scenery for the both of us, and maybe a place with so much space will be easier with his training and for me to do my workouts.

We got off the plane, checked out another rental car, and headed towards our hotel. It was late in the evening by the time we finally got to our destination, so we ended up picking up some food on the way. I ate and drove, even though doing those two things were highly dangerous, and against the rules to do in a rental car.

When we got to the hotel Christian went to check us in, since he booked the hotel, and I got all the things out of the car and had an employee load the bags into one of the carry carts. When I came to the front desk Christian and the employee were in some kind of argument, and the guy looked scared.

"I-I'm sorry, Sir. But that's the room that you reserved online. I have no other available rooms that qualify for what you are looking for."

"That's IMPOSSIBLE!" Christian growled at the man. "I know which room I booked, and it wasn't the one that you are trying to shove me into now."

"What's going on?" I asked placing my hand on Christian's arm in attempts to calm him a tad. The man behind the desk flickered his eyes to mine and a wave of relief washed over his features. His eyes seemed to scream a thank you at me since I got Christian's attention off the poor man.

"He isn't giving us the room I booked." Christian stated, his eyes full of anger and... fear?

"Okay....? So then have him get us another one?" Its not that big of a deal.

"They don't have any rooms available other than the type that I 'reserved'." He narrowed his eyes at the man behind the desk yet again, which in turn made the poor guy flinch visibly.

"Okay. Then we will have to do with what we got."

"Max, you don't understand. The room only has a queen sized bed in it. Only one."

I let his words sink in. I felt my eyes roll and my mouth say "We will take the room. So sorry for the inconvenience." Yet on the inside I was freaking out. Now I have to share a bed with him too? How the hell is that going to work?!

Christian gave me a weird look, but I busied myself with taking our bags over towards the elevator after the kind man had given me the key. Apparently he didn't want to give it to Christian, and we all could figure out why.

   ***************

When the time to go to bed came, Christian and I stood at the foot of the bed side by side and gazed at it, neither saying a word. We had gotten ready for bed moments before hand, and I stood in my PJs while he stood in just boxers.

It was the first time that I have seen him shirtless, and trying not to stare was easier said than done. His abs and chest were toned, but not too packed with rock hard muscles. In other words he was fit, but didn't look like he uses steroids. It was a nice view to say the least.

Thus here we are, awkwardly standing at the foot of the bed in an even more awkward silence. We were both thinking the same thing, yet neither of us wants to speak our minds and state the obvious questions.
