After waking up in the morning and detaching ourselves from each other, Christian and I decided that it was time that we went and found some business to do. I have no idea why every night we have to become attached to each other. But the next morning neither of us would say anything about it, and would act like its completely normal.
I pulled out the laptop while Christian went in a search of food. Within minutes I found several people that needed out attention close to where we currently were. That's the awesome thing about my mail, I can type in my location and it filters me the emails that have to do with the surrounding area.
As Christian walked into the room, the smell of bacon filled the room. My stomach growled as a call to him to bring it to me. I heard him chuckle as he came around the corner. "Hungry?" He asked with a wink as he sat the plate down on the bed beside me. I snatched up a piece and stuck it in my mouth, chewing hungrily.
"Here. Pick which one you want." I said handing him the laptop, then grabbing a fork and digging into the steaming waffle. I watched his eyes scan the list of emails, and he picked out two by the time I had stuck three pieces of the delightful thing into my mouth.
"Can we do both?" He asked, hope filling his eyes and his voice.
I nodded. "It would show you how in demand we are, and how fast we really should be..."
"Because faster is always better!" He finished for me as he popped a bite of egg into his mouth. We finished eating our breakfast, then packed up all our essentials. Okay I made Christian pack it, he needed to learn the basic necessities.
It would be a challenge for him to say the least. I would have to put him on a time deadline, in order to finish both assignments. So in doing so we would only be able to spend a few hours at each location instead of half the day like he's used to.
I sigh and look into his pleading, hopeful eyes. "Alright. Fine. We can do both. But...! You will have to be on a time limit." I said as I saw how excited he was getting. The smile that burst across his face at my words melted my heart.
He gives me a quick hug, then leaves to discard of all out trash. In the meantime, after I get over the shock of being hugged, I emailed the families back and told them both when to expect Christian and I.
First on out list was the Peterson's. They were a family that was just starting out with a baby boy that was only three months. They were top priority because of the small baby. Demons usually attach to young things because they are easy targets. Because they were starting out they didn't have much extra money laying around, so I told them it was on the house. Partly because they couldn't afford me and because I knew Christian wouldn't like if I made them pay anyways. I'm not that heartless!
The second on the list was the Quinns. They were an elderly couple that had just moved into a new home, with the kids all grown and gone. The new home was a down size for them, and out in the wilderness where it was quiet. They wanted somewhere where they didn't have to deal with seeing their neighbor like five feet from their own house. The only thing they didn't want was all the unexpected trouble that came with the house.
Once Christian had packed up all the necessary items, and replaced the unnecessary ones after much debate, we were ready to head to the town of San José. I liked the area because it was nice and clean, and not too over crowded for the high population that lived there.
The Peterson's were waiting for us when we arrived. Their small brick house with even smaller garage and driveway fit in with the surrounding homes. We parked our rental next to the blue Prius, that no doubt Mr. Peterson drove. Speaking of which, Mr. and Mrs. stood on the porch and watched us grab our gear and head closer. I realized that the baby was nestled in his mother's arms, and I felt a ping of jealousy. I wanted a baby. Whoa! Where did that come from?
