Chapter 18

Back in Action...?

Two days later, the nurses, and Tim, agreed that Christian was well enough to leave the hospital. In those two days that I had to spend with him, I did just about everything I could to keep my mind busy and not dwell on the fact that Christian might know and heard me say the big L word.

I did everything from going out and killing at least five different demons in two hours, to swimming in the pool. Christian was not very happy that I went on kills without him, but being on bed rest their isn't much he could do about it. I needed the money to pay for his medical bills, and once that was brought up he didn't say much more.

I also made the time to go by Tim's house and throw out every single liquor bottle the could be found. After that process was over with, I enrolled him AA meetings; much to his objection. He needed the help and I knew that my Father would have done the same thing.

Now here I was, sitting and waiting for the nurses to unhook him from everything and give the final go that we could leave. The room was unusually quiet without all the machines beeping all the time. That meant that I was alone with my own thoughts, and my brain slipped into panic mode.

What if he heard?

So what if her heard?

Well if he heard, why didn't he say anything?

Does he feel the same way?

Does he not and that's why he isn't saying anything about it?

Maybe he just hadn't heard what I said.

How did Tim seem to know that Christian was awake and was hearing every word?

The nurse looked at me exactingly. "I'm sorry, what did you say?" I asked after I realized that she had said something to me that I missed while in my mini freak out.

"I said that Christian over here..." She gestured to him sitting on the bed looking at me with slight confusion. "...is ready to go when you are." She finished her sentence with a snotty attitude and left the room leaving me to look after her in confusion at her amount of sass.

I glanced at Christian, who in turn was looking at the floor with faked interest. Obviously this was going to be an awkward day.

Without saying a word, I opened one of my portals and let us to the next hotel we were doing to stay in. While Christian was here, I had already moved our stuff to the middle of San Francisco. I moved after realizing that I had a lot of emails coming from this town since I haven't been here in a few months.

On the empty wall that I used to open the vortex, no longer stood empty. The new hotel room was visible now, and if you didn't know any better it would have looked like a painting. I started to pass Christian's things, that he insisted stay with him at the hospital wing with him, through the gateway.

When I was finished I looked up to see him gazing at the entrance with awe. "Are you ready to go through?" I asked after a few moments of his unwavering gaze. You would think he would be used to the idea that I could do this.

"Yeah." He stated slowly as he stood up and shuffled his feet to stand just inches away. He stuck his hand in as if to see if the thing was real.

I rolled my eyes and stepped through, knowing that I had to meet the next client in less than an hour. Christian on the other hand wasn't supposed to use his arm more than necessary, so he would only go to observe.

Once I had passed through, Christian seemed to think that he could do it too just fine. After he was safely through and sitting on the bed, I closed it, suppressing the giggle that threatened to escape when he gasped yet again in awe.
