"Well, looks like we have a new Greaser in town," the curly blond-haired Soc said, mockingly, as him and his elite friends surrounded me behind the main building of the school, right after I had gotten out on my first day.

"Why don't we be the first to welcome this cute little girl?" one of his buddies said, and anger flared inside of me.  I hate being called cute by anyone.  I didn't say anything as the five guys drew closer, trying to grab me and pin me to the red brick wall of the school behind me.  I evaded the first two, but then some of them got hold of my arms, forcing me against the wall.

An evil, somewhat menacing grin spread across the face of the biggest Soc, with the curly blond hair, as he pulled a blade out of his back pocket and flipped it open.  The sunlight caught the gleaming silver and shone in my eyes as he stepped closer and I struggled to free my arms.  I immediately stopped struggling as I felt the cool metal point of the blade against my throat and the grip on my arms tighten.  If it were anything but a blade, I could easily get away, I thought, trying to devise a plan to get them to drop the blade when a voice punctured my thoughts.

"Hey! Leave her alone!" It was the boy that couldn't seem to stop looking at me in English class that day.  He had greased back reddish brown hair, more red than brown, and greeny-gray eyes.  He was wearing jeans, a navy blue T-shirt, and a faded zip up blue sweatshirt.

And this kid who was just slightly bigger than me though the same age, I assumed, was trying to stick up for me against five guys that all outnumbered him in size and strength.  That was either guts or just plain stupidity.

"What are you gonna do about it?" one of the Socs jeered, and I saw my chance.  Since they were distracted, I managed to twist out from their arms pinning me to the wall, grabbing the blade from the blond-haired guy and holding it to his throat.

"Nothing.  I am," I said in response to the question that wasn't even directed at me.  Now fear showed in his dark blue eyes, but not in his voice.

"What are you gonna do with that?" he asked, and his friends followed his example, mocking me.

"You've never even touched a blade before!" "You don't have the guts!" "What are you, a girl?!"  The kid from my English class just stood and stared, shocked by my reaction most likely.

I didn't even answer, I just lunged at the big guy, slicing the blade across his thigh with a flash of silver, leaving a trail of blood soaking through his tan pants.  Not even bothering to close it, I dropped the blade on the ground where it thudded on the grass.

Shocked and pale-faced, Mr. Blond Hair Super Soc grabbed his blade with a shaking hand and ran, the four other guys following after him.  Judging by his reaction, he was scared.  I hadn't thought I'd scared him that bad, but maybe I was wrong.

Acting like nothing had happened, I turned and started walking towards home.  The red-haired kid from my English class jogged to catch up with me, cause I had breezed past him without even another glance in his direction.

"Were you really gonna kill him?" he asked me.

"No," I replied in a duh voice, "I don't need to get picked up for murder," appalled that he'd actually thought I was going to kill the guy.

"You're new around here, aren't you?" he asked.  What was with this guy? He was even following me as I headed home, which was kind of creepy.

"No, I've lived here forever," I said sarcastically and blew him off and turned down the street.  Thankfully, he didn't follow me.  He just stood there on the curb looking puzzled as he watched me walk away, but then just shrugged and continued going straight.
