So in the first episode we sort of get an introduction we get an introduction of the characters as a superhero squad. I gotta say I can do without all the puns, but at least they're serious when they say them instead of smiling in a cringe-worth way.

So the fighting scenes in the first few minutes are a bit slow-paced but I feel it's done this way so that we can get a good idea of what type of powers they have.

We get to see who can fly using their powers.
We see that Robin is skilled in martial arts.

Starfire is a bit more complicated, if this is the first episode you watch of the series you just think that she's blasting lasers, which makes her quite strong. But if you're just looking back on it you'll know that she is using starbolts.

We see Cyborg throw a really strong punch, the frame was holding a little longer than needed. But from this not only do we get a good glimpse his Robot parts but we can also hear the sound it makes when it hits Cinderblock.

We see beast boy turning into a bird.

As Cinderblock is thrown off balance by Beast Boy he gives Raven enough time to use Telekinesis. She also didn't get any shock lines because differing from the others she's calm and composed.

We get a small moment of Beast Boy always saying the wrong thing at the wrong time. May I say it just freaks me out how deep his voice used to be (Not that I don't like it. I adore Greg but I'm used to a higher pitched Beast Boy) Also Raven's voice is slightly more high pitched, I prefer it this way, but I still love Raven. We can see that Raven is yet to still show any sign of emotions and it was made pretty clear that she is the darker one of the team.

Okay we got a bit of the introduction of the characters interacting with each other but when Cyborg responds with "I got the sonic if you've got the boom" makes me cringe. A simpler line as "Count me in" would have been fine as we're just getting to know the character.
Now I just have to say the fight between Robin and Cyborg builds up to nothing in further seasons.
Reasons it was a bad decision for the story to make these two characters fight and almost ruin their friendship like that.

• Cyborg and Robin never fight like this again, they tend to get along decently. It's usually Beast Boy and Cyborg that tend to argue. Robin is more of a logical character and yes Cyborg can be a little dominating, so Cyborg is spot on but Robin is so out of character.

• We don't really know what the characters are like. We've known them for about 5 minutes, they are so one-dimensional to us at this point. So if they fight or not, we don't really care. We can feel sorry for them but we can't really relate to them because we don't know what kind of relationship they had.

• The only reason why they made it ROBIN against Cyborg is simply because he's the main character and the first episode HAD TO REVOLVE AROUND HIM

• The reason why Beast Boy and Cyborg arguing would have been more logical is because they tend to do it through out a few of the other episodes (NEVER TO THESE EXTREMES BUT IT COULD STILL WORK). Beast boy lacks tact so it's easy for them to write in a situation where he screws things up.

• Also I never see them use this move ever again in the series. I actually don't remember any of the other members combing their powers with one another ever again. They just kind of do their own thing.

• Later on Robin is seen playing video games by himself forgetting that Cyborg is not there. He is never seen playing another video game again in the series. Robin prefers listening to music or watch TV. It's always Cyborg and Beast Boy the ones playing video games.

•  We get a very small Glance of Slade in his first episode. We see that he's not a good guy but in the first season he's just all talk and no action. To me villains that just like to provoke others by letting their existence getting known is just a little tacky because the time they spend talking they could actually be doing something and it seems very slow-paced to me. Also I don't see a reason for Slade attacking them and trying to get hem killed if he needs to use them against Robin later on. You could argue that Slade might have not realized that he didn't know he wanted Robin as an apprentice yet, or an apprentice at all. But I have a feeling that the writers were still figuring out what to do with Slade.

So yeah not the best episode. But it does have some good qualities.
I for one enjoy their slice of life interaction when they're at the tower or out at the park or having a pizza. We get to see a bit of that but with a sort of melancholy.
I also really enjoy getting to see the fun chibi and anime faces.

In this episode we also see that Robin is the type of guy that when he's angry he takes it out on his adversaries, which will build up to his obsession with Slade later on.

The second battle is slightly more fast-paced but again they need to cut it out with the puns, I get it if Beast Boy does it but when Robin turns his arm to ice and says "Maybe he just needs to chill." Ugh... Also the fact that they didn't show what Cyborg was up to while he was out just counts as plot-hole to me. How the heck did he know where they were?
Usually Robin's smile makes me feel warm inside but when he mentioned that there was someone else behind Cinderblock's attacks it made me feel weird because it is just out of character for Robin to smile like that and at that moment, he should be angry.

I just always skip this episode and go to my favorites.
