I don't think it's done in real life too but who the heck advertises villains? Seriously?

In this episode, yes the Hive is very bland but they do build for some fun episodes but in the meantime this episode is also not the best in my opinion.

It's not all bad though, we get a funny slice of life moment, I like these moments because it makes them at least two-dimensional, they do more than just fight, they're also kids, they have needs, they like to have fun. They're human!
They're conversation feels slightly more real because if you live in a house were you have to share your things with other people you are going to go crazy. We've already seen two episodes of them so they are starting to grow on us.

When Star and Robin came and Star said "And that is the secret to travelling faster than light" I hate when characters come in and shove down our throats that they were talking about something that obviously we will never get to hear. It would have been more logical if they heard that bickering or the awful smell that came from all the garbage in their living and came to see what was going on.

I thought it was hilarious when Star made the blue food-monster explode and they just went out for pizza instead. They were all bickering and it was the perfect funny way to calm everyone down and let them see that they need to stop arguing.

In this episode while they are ordering pizzas Beast Boy "reminds" the Titans that he's a vegetarian, because he's "been most of these animals!" but it was rather announcing it to the viewers. Let me just say that he is vegan because in the episode NEVERMORE he is seen making breakfast for the others and suing tofu eggs and milk that was not extracted from animals.
Vegetarian is when you don't eat meat but accept to eat eggs and dairy products. Beast Boy does NOT eat them, therefore he is vegan. (The same mistake is made with Phoebe Buffay in friends, she's actually vegan, not vegetarian.)

As much fun as it is watching them fight over which pizza to get, (ESPECIALLY WHEN STARFIRE SUGGESTED ALL THOSE WACKY INGREDIENTS, her innocence is so adorable) why couldn't everyone just get a pizza each? Do they not have enough money. If they were really Beast Boy's friends they would have respected his life style, let him order a pizzafree of animal product and they could have just ordered whatever on another pizza. They live in a Tower in the shape of a T with God knows how many floors but they can't afford two pizzas?

Gizmo battles Robin.

I think that Gizmo is the leader of the Hive, therefore he's a more bossy version of Robin.

When they battle against the Hive we see them battle their Shadow-self: What would they be like if they were evil.
Jinx Battles Raven, she definitely has a different personality but they're powers are similar. Yes they both wear dark clothing but that doesn't make them the same, Jinx is kind of bland in the first season. The fact that she told Raven "You fight like a boy." like implying that compared to her all boys are weak and she lowerd Raven to a boy to bring out women empowering. It's just reversed sexism and it makes me cringe because your gender does not define your strengths, not to mention there's all kinds of strengths.

Beast Boy fights Mammoth.

The only thing they have in common is that they're both animals, I know it doesn't seem like much but it's really hard to give them small hints that they in a way represent the Teen Titans.

Cyborg fights Mammoth and Gizmo at the same time.

I'm sorry that with this one I'm judging by appearance.
But he is like a pre-historic villain version of Cyborg.
While Gizmo is an immature baby version of Cyborg with a great knowledge for technology.

In this episode each Teen Titans is fighting their own and their friends shadow-self. Your shadow-self is a part of you and a while ago they were fighting each other, in a different way and for different reason but it's a very small symbolism of they need to stick together as a Team. I know that only Cyborg, Beast Boy and Raven were arguing so this shadow-self thing would have meant more if they all got on in each other more like in the episode HOW LONG IS FOREVER.

I adore the scene that Beast Boy and Raven share. I like that they didn't put any music in because they thought they had just experienced a loss of one of their friends so with no music it just feels more realistic. In this scene Beast Boy doesn't try to make a joke and shows his real genuine side and it honestly feels like a real moment between them. Kind of awkward but sweet.

In my opinion Beast Boy only makes jokes when he wants to impress a group of people, or because he wants to be the center of attention. But when he's alone with someone he usually has a true genuine moment with them.

Cyborg breaks the silence arriving full of energy and sunshine and it makes us feel kind of empty, especially the other characters, because they know that there's a possibility that Robin might be dead.

It's quite unnerving to see the Titans being attacked in their own home and it's easy to understand their pain. But I feel that Cyborg's pain is overplayed. Not that he's being over-dramatic, but we've only known this character for three episodes so it feels a bit one-dimensional to me that he acts cold and tough like this. (It is written out much better in Car trouble)

Later on Robin appears fresh as a rose. It annoys me that we don't know how the heck he survived, yeah he's super agile. But would it kill them to show us his struggle, it would have been much more interesting than having it build for suspense.

I don't know about you guys but it makes me sick to my stomach seeing the Hive invading their personal privacy and wrecking their place. My insides just tangle up when I see Gizmo throw away those CDs. If someone did that to me I would blow a fuse.

I started to feel very thrilled when we find out that Cyborg has the ability to spy on them with his arm.

Still one of Cyborg's arm could take them out all at once but all the Titans together couldn't defeat them? I know they let their guards down but still.

But this time they won defeating their friend's shadow-self not their own so they just clashed with the wrong side and as it was also shown in Raven's arc - they would win against each other in a battle. Or it could be that they started to work together as a real team and able to over comes their dark sides.

Although Robin and Cyborg confronted their shadow-self (Gizmo) at the same time. I like the last battle scene because it just felt very empowering.
