CHAPTER TEN
HOME INVASION

✦✧✦✧✦

"We have to take Lydia somewhere safe. Or at least somewhere that we can protect her." Stiles pitched to Violet, who was on the verge of leaving the school after the occurrences to chemistry class.

"Where's that gonna be? Derek can easily follow us." Violet replied.

"Scott and Allison said they have a plan." Stiles said, checking his phone for the time, "it's almost the end of the day so from what I gathered of the plan, we need to find Lydia before she's out for the day."

"I'm in." Violet confirmed.

Violet seemed to feel better, and when she merely stood there while Stiles returned into the school building, the teenager asked his best friend if she would be going back inside, to which she put her issues aside and ultimately decided to go back in to help Lydia; someone Violet McCall now considered a friend.

"Do you mind me asking where you found this? A book?" The Beacon Hills High School counselor and French teacher, Miss Morell asked both Allison and Violet. Of course the woman was referring to the copy Allison had made of her grandfather's bestiary that no one could read, since it was, of course, written in Archaic Latin.

"Ummm, a family heirloom." Allison tried in an attempt to conceal the real facts about the sheet of paper she'd asked Morell to translate.

The teacher laughed, "interesting family." She said.

"I would say so..." Violet replied.

"I'm pretty familiar with most romance languages, but this is a little out of my reach." Morell said unfortunately.

"Can you give it a shot?" Allison practically pled.

"Alright, um," Morell paused, sounding out what she was reading, "Kan-I-ma. Do I have that right?"

"Yeah." both teenagers replied, Violet more enthusiastically than Allison.

Morell looked at the sheet for a few more seconds before reading off what she could translate, "'...like the wolf, its power is greatest at the moon's peak.' Huh, sounds like a werewolf." She chuckled, to which Allison and Violet replied with nervous laughter of their own. "Oh, there's some words here I don't recognize."

"Just try." Allison said, just barely interrupting her. "Please."

"Could I hold onto it for a bit?"

"Now is better, please." Allison said.

Violet took note of her friend's unnatural behavior then tugged slightly at the girl's wrist, "chill out." Violet whispered. Allison only shot her back a nervous look of apology.
