Rey couldn't help but smile as she entered Ben's room. He had band posters of their mutual favorite bands plastered all over his walls, and his guitar leaned up against his bed. Ben looked at Rey and suddenly seemed a bit nervous. "So, um," he began, playing with his hands, "I just wanted to play you a song." Rey's face broke into an appreciative grin. "Really? That's so sweet!" Ben seemed to relax at her reaction. He sat down on his bed and put his guitar in his lap. Rey wondered with interest what song he was about to play. Ben strummed a chord and then began to sing. Rey had to hold back an audible gasp. He had a wonderful voice and was obviously an extremely talented guitar player. Wait, what song was he playing anyway? "Your face is the first thing I see / The first time I've seen love / And the last I'll ever need" Rey did gasp now. Kissing in Cars. One of her all time favorite Pierce the Veil songs... and it was also their most blatantly romantic ballad. Rey couldn't help but wonder at his song choice... could it be that perhaps he felt the same way for her as she did for him? Suddenly Rey felt herself tearing up. It was just such a beautiful song, and somehow Ben singing it made it a hundred times more beautiful.

Ben strummed the last few chords on his guitar, taking a deep breath and looking up at Rey. He set his guitar down and rose to his feet. He was looking nervous again. "Rey," he said softly, "I really like you." Rey's eyes widened in joy. "Ben, I really like you too," she said with a gentle smile. Ben's face lit up. He hesitantly continued, "Would you like to be my girlfriend?" Rey couldn't believe her ears. "Of course!" she said. Hoping it was okay, she took Ben into a fond warm hug. Ben smiled and hugged her back. Neither of them wanted to pull away from the hug, but finally Rey moved back a bit. She looked up at Ben. He was gazing at her again, and as their eyes connected Rey felt her pulse quicken. It was just like at the dance - she couldn't look away from his gentle dark eyes. And he certainly wasn't looking away either. Rey knew she wasn't about to run away this time, though. Then she noticed Ben's face was moving closer to hers and her heart almost stopped. His soft lips touched hers and before she knew what was happening, she was kissing him back.
