Chapter 24: Meeting Place

*Liam’s POV*

So, Niall and Blaire are fighting over something stupid. I’m trying to get some sense into Niall’s head. Obviously, he does not understand that Zayn is Blaire’s boyfriend that’s why she’s staying with him.

“For the hundredth time, Niall, please understand that Zayn and Blaire are together and there’s nothing wrong with Blaire living with Zayn. Just give it a rest, already. You cut your friendship with Blaire just because of that?!”

Niall sighed. We were at the football field and it was lunch time. He decided not to eat and I decided to talk to him. As the “daddy” of the group, I want everyone to be in good terms.

“Come on, Niall. Why do you even want her to live with you? When you were with Kate, you were not like that to Blaire. You almost forgot her; you also spent no time with her, with us, but Blaire did not end your friendship. Even if she admitted that she liked you and you avoided her. She did those because she wanted you to be happy. Can’t you be like that to her too?”

He remained silent. He didn’t even look at me. He suddenly felt interested at the fences that were surrounding the field.

“Come on, mate. You can talk to me. You know that.” I sat beside him and I patted his back.

“I don’t know what’s happening to me, okay Liam?”

There was an awkward silence. “Do you like Blaire?” I asked quietly.

“What?”

“I asked, do you like Blaire?” I repeated myself.

“Why did you think that? Of course I like her as a best friend.” He looked away.

“Are you sure?? Nothing more? I know you’re lying, Niall.”

“Ok, yes. I like her. Are you happy now?” He stood up and was about to leave but I pulled him back and I made him sit.

“Since when?”

He sighed. Knowing that he won’t win; that I would eventually get it out of him. “When Kate and I dated for about 2 weeks already.”

“Is she also the reason why you broke up with Kate?” I am now starting to solve the puzzle.

“Yeah.” He said quietly and I questioned him why. “Because I realized that Kate did not have the things that I wanted. That Blaire had them. Whenever I’m around Kate, I always think of Blaire and asking myself why Kate did not act like Blaire and I knew the answer. It’s because Kate was nothing like Blaire but I was too late. Even before I broke up with Kate, Zayn and Blaire are dating already.”

“And there’s the answer. Is that also the reason why you wanted Blaire to live with you? So you can somehow win her back from Zayn?” I asked and he nodded still not looking at me. “Did you also realize that with what you did, you just pushed her away? You just pushed him closer to Zayn?” He nodded again.
