“Pass me the salt!” Max called from across the kitchen. Tom picked it up and threw it over to him. He caught it and twisted it out onto the plate in front of him

For some unknown reason, we’d all thought it would be a good idea to make dinner. We were making a chicken dish with a salad and potato bake. We were all in our kitchen, pulling off some very impressive teamwork and making a very impressive mess.

“Coming through,” Jay squeezed past to get to the oven and pull out the potatoes.

The boys were all looking incredibly manly with their little aprons tied around their waists. Add to that the oven gloves and looks of pure concentration and it was actually adorable to watch. Which is exactly why we were filming every part of it.

I was perched on the bench, having been shuffled out of the way so the ‘real men’ could work their magic. It was the perfect position to discretely film them with my phone. Taylah high fived me sneakily across the bench and I grinned evilly.

“Hurry up ladies,” Tay ordered, clapping her hands. “I’m starving.”

“Well how about you make yourself useful and go set the table then,” Max threw his tea towel at her and she caught it with a glare in his direction. I jumped off the bench and grabbed a pile of plates, signalling for her to follow me. She brought out the cutlery and Nathan and Tom followed behind with glasses and condiments.

The weather was beautiful so we decided to use the outside table in the backyard. It was a long wooden table with bench seats on either side. I laid out the plates and we arranged the cutlery.

“It’s getting pretty dark,” Nathan said, looking up at the darkening sky.

“Well there are some lanterns down in the back shed we can light up,” I suggested. “Want me to go down and get them?”

“Nah,” he waved a hand. “I can grab them. Want to come Tay?” She nodded and followed him off down the garden until they were out of sight.

Tom was looking after them, a weird look on his face.

“What’s the matter Tom Tom?” I nudged him playfully and he snapped back to reality to look at me and shrug. “Bull, tell me!”

“Are they… you know?” he asked awkwardly, jerking his head in the direction the others had walked in.

“Nope,” I said, popping the ‘p’.

“But you’d tell me if they were?”

“Tom,” I rolled my eyes. “She’d tell you if she was. Why, would you have a problem if they were?”

“I don’t know,” he said thoughtfully. “I mean it’s my little sister and my mate, that’s weird right?”

“Not if they’re happy,” I shrugged. “Come on, you know Nath. It’s not like he’d break her heart or hurt her. Besides, she’s a smart girl, we both know her well enough to know how tough she is.”

“I’m getting the feeling you’re hinting at something,” he looked at me suspiciously. “What do you know that I don’t?”

“Oh, nothing,” I said airily. “I just – I see good things in the future, and I want you to support your sister when they come.”

“I’ll always support her, she’s my sister,” he said obviously. “And don’t forget that you are too. It’s not just Max that’s looking out for you, remember that.”

“Aww Tommy!” I grinned and hugged him just as the others returned with the lanterns, too caught up in their own conversation to even take notice of us.

“We come bearing food,” Max, Siva and Jay burst out through the door carrying our meal with them and setting it down reverently. We all took our seats eagerly, just a teeny bit dying of starvation, whatever.

“Oh my god!” Tay said as she took a bite. “We are amazing!”

“You barely did anything,” Siva protested.

“Because you princesses wouldn’t let us,” I pointed to him with my fork and they all shrugged. “Tay, Jayne told me our magazine interview is coming out tomorrow.”

“So everyone will see your face on a magazine?” Nathan said, wrinkling up his face. “I feel sorry for the world’s population.”

“Shut up Sid,” I flicked his hat, making it fly off his head and onto the floor. “Be excited for us.”

The meal continued like that, everyone making fun of each other and bickering like we always did. Anyone from the outside would think we all hated each other, but that’s the best kind of relationship. If you can bag your best friends and get back ten times more, then you’re not best friends. Okay, maybe you are, but we couldn’t survive.

“Movie, movie, movie!” Tom and Jay started chanting, banging their knives and forks on the table.

So we ended up in the lounge room in our usual positions putting on yet another scary movie. It was like getting the shit scared out of you was addictive. We made a game of giving everybody a character in the movie and seeing who lasts the longest. It proved to be way more competitive than we expected.

“No! Don’t go in there!” Nathan yelled at the TV. “Why would I go in there? Am I actually that stupid?”

“What the hell Jay!” I hit him on the arm. “You totally just left me there to be killed. So not cool.”

“No! Not Siva!” Max pretended to sob. “I’m sorry mate, I tried to save you. I really tried.”

“Yes! In your face Sykes!” Tom got up and did a victory dance. “You died before me, you died before me. I am the champion – Wait what? No! I can’t die!”

“Maaaaax! Sacrifice yourself and let me live!” Tay whined. “Oh, you actually did, awesome. Wait, I’m the last left, and the bad guy is dead? God, I’m such a badass.”

“Spoke too soon,” I laughed. “That guy is resilient, like his head went through a wood chipper for crying out loud!”

“I’m totally going to win the next one!”

A.N: Sorry this is a bit of a filler guys, but I'm a tad blocked, so yeah sorry.

And yes, we actually do that when we watch scary movies, so cool.
