TAYLAH’S POV
“Tom, take me home,” I demanded, standing in the doorway to the lounge room.
“I’m a little busy,” Tom said, his eyes still on the stupid video game he was playing. “Why are you going so early?”
“None of your bloody business,” I snapped. “Whatever, I’m catching a cab. I hope you feel guilty when I get raped and murdered.”
I stormed up the hallway and out the door, letting it slam behind me. Stupid Tom, stupid Maeve. Why couldn’t they just be happy for me? She was meant to be my best friend, and all she cared about was that her little ship didn’t work out. I mean, even Nathan was happier for me than her, although he was acting a little weird…
I ended up flopping onto my bed, face down in my pillow. I wasn’t getting picked up for a few hours, so I might as well have a little sleep…
Shit. A little sleep turned into a big sleep and next thing I knew, I only had half an hour to get ready. I jumped up quickly, getting undressed while I walked into my wardrobe.
I slipped into a cute black dress and sparkly black heels, carefully applying my make up and straightening my hair. I was good, all ready with five minutes to spare. I sprayed on a little perfume and grabbed my purse just as the doorbell rang.
Blake was a major hottie. He had floppy dark brown hair that settled in a careful disarray that probably took him an hour to accomplish. He was tanned, with dark eyes and a body you could tell was amazing even through his shirt.
“Hey gorgeous,” he grinned as I opened the door, his eyes shamelessly raking me up and down. I accepted his arm and let him lead me to the car. He even opened my door for me.
“So, where are we going?” I asked excitedly, bouncing in the car seat. All thoughts of being angry had been wiped from my mind.
“There’s a really nice restaurant I know doing Main,” he explained, keeping his eyes on the road.
My phone beeped in my purse and I pulled it out to read the new message.
From: My Amazing Big Brother
Thanks for letting me know you were going out.
Be careful and call me when you’re headed home. X.
I didn’t bother replying. Okay, so maybe I wasn’t completely over being annoying at them all.
“Who was that?” Blake asked curiously.
“Just my brother,” I rolled my eyes. “He worries way too much.” He just laughed.
The restaurant was actually lovely. It was kind of fancy, but not really posh. The food was to die for. I had amazing pasta and Blake had a steak.
He was an even greater guy than I’d thought. The conversation we had over dinner was great, really effortless and fun. We talked about everything, from our childhoods to what we wanted to do with our lives.
We got onto families and I vented about how, even though I loved Tom, he could get really overprotective and it could really get on my nerves. Then it somehow got onto the other boys, and how it was like having a whole lot of big brothers, but deep down I really liked how much they cared about me.
Then I got onto Maeve. I told him about how close we were, and how we knew everything about each other and she was like my long lost sister. And I started to feel guilty about how I’d snapped at her. And then I felt bad about boring Blake with my complaining. But the thing was, he didn’t care.
