"Mom, what's school like?" Sherman looked at his mother with innocent dark eyes as she straightened his backpack carefully. Kneeling down to tighten the black Velcro shoes he wore, Sherman didn't feel very secure at the moment. He didn't know a lot of other kids so he was very skeptical shout the concept of "school".
"Well there's a lot of kids, just like you. And you have to be very nice to them, you don't punch them ok?"
"But I punch Hunter and Sebastian all the time mom."
"Do you want to be punched?" She looked up at him after she was done and stood up.
"No."
"They don't either. Especially girls, I don't want you fighting like Hunter and Sebastian do. They aren't good examples. I want you to compliment the guys you see, not fight. Ok little sapling?"
"Yes mom." She walked him out the door of the condominium they lived in and he sprinted to the new car, and pulled handle. He continued pulling it as it made loud clicking sounds until she unlocked the car and he jumped in, quickly buckling his seat belt. The reached the school and his mother led him to a classroom with other kids and their parents.
They found a name tag, and she sat him down, making sure he knew what his name looked like. After reminding him of many other things, she sighed, and looked at her baby once more.
Sherman only nodded with excitement sprawled all over his face and she smiled, kissing him the cheek.
"Have a good day Sherman. Remember what I told you."
"Bye mom!"
"Bye sapling."
Short chapter, but anyways, please vote. I know many chapters are super short but in case you haven't noticed, the chapter title represents the age and the decimal represents the month. Each chapter is a key point in his life, similar to the core memories from the movie "Inside Out".
