"Natsu, let's go," I call, snapping him out of his fight with Gray.
"Huh?"
"I got the uniform!" I grin, dangling it in front of me proudly. He breaks into his own sunshine-and-rainbows grin, making my stomach lurch as if on a rollercoaster.
"Wait, where's Juvia?" Gray gapes, head lolling to the side as if not believing I got rid of her.
"She had some... stuff to take care of," I reply vaguely.
"That's my girl!" Natsu cheers, not conscious of his word choice, as usual. He skipped out, unaffected. However, he left me behind in a state of flustered confusion- even Gray was gaping at the retreating form of his friend, the fresh black eye matching his hair.
"Damn, he warmed up to you quickly," he says, groaning as he gets up. "where did you send Juvia off too?"
"I think she's going... an errand?" I say with a growing smirk. I follow after Natsu, feeling rather triumphant.
While we were at the cafe, we picked up the plastic bottles from the ground, littered around the restaurant by unmindful tourists.
"God, we should clean things up here more," the pinkette grunts, taking in the disarrayed state of his town's beautiful beaches. The ones he grew up with, I predict.
"Yeah, we should. Maybe set up some no-littering signs and stuff."
He sends me a cupid kind of smile, shooting a heart-shaped arrow through my heart. "We should do that sometime."
My heart jolts at the meaning behind his words.
"'We'?"
"Well, I mean," he adds awkwardly, giving me a shy grin. "if you want to, uh, with me. Like, if you want Lucy or something to join us like that's fine and stuff-"
"-you and I sounds perfect," I promise, inwardly giddy.
He breaks into another grin that rivals the 4pm sun.

"Alright, all we need now are the coffee beans and the fin... the hardest ones," I add grudgingly.
"Gah, this is frustrating," Natsu grumbles, plopping down in the sand. "whaddya think we should do?"
"It has to be something on the beach, right? What on the beach has 'coffee beans' in it's name?" I wonder out loud as my partner shrugs his shoulders and starts picking at pebbles.
"I don't know," he rumbles. "sand dollars, coconuts, shells..."
And then it clicks.
"Shells!" I yell, everything falling into place. But of course. Coffee bean shells! They're shaped like coffee beans with a crack in the middle where small sea snails make it their home. I look at where the waves flood in, and notice that the shells are everywhere. It was right under our noses!
