"You know what, I'm starting to feel like the Universe really does hate us."
"Can you just... shut up for a minute?"
I sigh, rubbing my temples. Now what? Makarov wasn't going to come check up on us- and from what I'd seen, he gets particularly lost in his work. When will he notice that we're in here?
It was pitch-black.
I didn't even know where Natsu was, or me for what mattered.
"Should we call someone? Do you have his number?" I ask, starting to feel increasingly uncomfortable. I rocked on the back of my heels, hands stuffed into my shorts.
"Nope," Natsu answered, like he had no care in the world. A pang of jealousy shot through me at the pure relaxed tone, completely in his element. While I was on the verge of panic, too scared to sit or lean against anything. "and it would be pointless to call the ice princess or anyone else, since they said they were gonna swim and nobody is gonna swim with their phones in their pockets."
I groan, digging my hands deeper in my pockets. My breathing became more shallow, arms itching. Are we going to die of carbon dioxide poisoning because there is no oxygen flowing into the room? Will we die of dehydration? Starve?
"Hey," I jump as I felt a warm hand on my shoulder, followed by a hard body pressing against my shoulder. "no need ta panic."
He seemed to slow down my fidgeting mind, and I relax against his hard muscles.
"I have too little battery left in my phone to light this room up," I explain, and I feel Natsu nod in agreement.
"Let's sit down," I hear him breath in my ear. "we don't need ya collapsing on me, do we?"
This is not what I need right now.
Goosebumps leaped out to say hello, bringing their good friend progesterone with them.
Ew, (y/n).
Since when did you pay attention during biology?
We carefully sat down, and I was painfully aware of Natsu beside me. His deep breathing, burning aura that was steadily warming me up.
And before my eyes, a light flickered on.
He had turned on a lighter- why am I not surprised? The flame lit up his features- the fire dancing in his onyx eyes, a golden yellow flame, emitting a soft orange hue upon his defined, tanned features.
I look away. "You remember now that you have a lighter?"
I flinch at my own snarky tone.
"Ey, be happy we at least got some light," he shrugs, scratching off the black paint on the metal.
