It was a fun morning.

The ocean water glittered in the sun like diamonds- pristine and calming, reflecting it's rays. There were macaron pink parasols set up along the beach so there was just enough shade, it's coconuts snuggled under the white sand. Unfortunately, that was all swept into disarray when Fairy Tail's ass landed straight in the middle of it all.

Mirajane- being the organized, professional women she was- had set up plastic tables and arranged cold drinks(which you didn't touch, being the god-knows-what), popsicles, and fresh fruit. Cana lay snoring in a corner, Levy and Lucy were giggling about something in another corner, and Erza was suntanning.

I had also met Juvia- a peculiar girl that talked in third person. She seemed very kind though, and I wondered why Natsu was so afraid of her.

That was until I glanced at Gray.

Now I'm officially a 'love rival'.

However, I'd also learned about the relationship of Levy and Gajeel.

There were instant glares when they're eyes met- ignoring each other for the rest of the time like they were archenemies in some action film.

The tension was fucking crazy

I had also met the playboy Loki and the infamous Laxus(Mira's boyfriend)- who had acknowledged me with a grunt. The other, however, gave me a kiss on the back of my hand.

Yeah, that happened.

And Natsu... well, Natsu...

I stared at him from the tops of my knees.

Tanned muscles rippled in the hot air of the beach- droplets of water rolling down his back, a defined arm slung over a black surf board.

I can't help but grin at the pure penmanship of Natsu's iconic surfboard. If you lined up exactly a hundred of boards in a row, I could still tell that that one was his. It stood out with its orange and red flames growing from the bottom, into the intimidating pitch black background.

"Hey, ya did it buddy!"

The grown man cheered loudly- the kid smiling up at him joyfully as his mentor ruffled his hair. Oh yeah, did I mention that Natsu was on duty as a surfer instructor? Yeah- a perfect view and the punch to the gut of him getting so well along with children

Shit. If that's not every girls dream. It's hard to handle a hot guy, but a hot guy that can manage kids without them bursting out crying every hour- that's even hotter.

"God, stop those thoughts (y/n)," I whisper to myself. "the heat is affecting your brain."

I refused to go out in a bikini like the other girls- instead wearing cotton shorts and a baggy white tee, swim suit underneath. I had not entirely gone along with Lucy's promise.

"(y/n)! Come here! Stop being anti-social! We need another player!"

Cana called out, and I whine.

"Guys, I'm trying to get some Vitamin D! Later, okay?"

"You're... under a fucking parasol, (y/n). You could've used a better excuse. Now get yo ass over here!"

I groan. There was no avoiding this one.

My muscles feel like weights as I bring myself to a stand- sighing in defeat as I walk over to the waving group, all sunshine and bare skin. They were sitting in a circle in the sand- beach toys in their laps.

I squeezed myself in between Gray and Lucy.

I looked around the circle, allowing myself to take a look at Natsu. He looked... strangely nervous? His fingers were tapping impatiently against his knee, but that was probably just because he wanted to just play and not sit around and talk.

I went around, inwardly complimenting Mira's choice of bathing suit, before I met Juvia's burning eyes.

I yelp as she glares at me from her position next to Gray.

"All right guys! You ready to play?" Levy cheered.

"Nope," Gajeel sighed. "didn't understand a thing you said, shrimp. Talkin' too fast. Think about others and not just yourself when you explain shit, okay?"

"You probably didn't understand what I was saying because of your low IQ, and not because of my explanation," she spat. I, and several others, whistle lowly at the burn. Gajeel just shrugs it off.

"Alright, we can re-explain," Mira gently says. Of course, everyone immediately shuts up.

"We're going to do a Scavenger Hunt. Basically, we will pair you up in teams, give you a list of items to find as well as a bag to put them in, and you will find them along the beach and in that general area. The maximum time limit is 2 hours, and the winners are the ones who find everything first. Laxus and I will not play, since we are the juries."

"And what do the winners get?" Gray calls, only interested in the prize.

"They will each win a pineapple float," the barmaid says, holding up the two plastic-wrapped floats. I grin- those weren't the cheap variant, not with them being human-sized and wearing sunglasses.

"Any questions? Comments? Thoughts?" Levy asks.

"Yeah, do we have any beer left?"

"Other questions? No? Okay. Mira, can you announce the pairs please?" Levy asks.

And she starts listing them off.

"Freed and Loki."

"Gray and Juvia."

Oh, poor Gray. He has to deal with her for the next two hours.

"Lucy and Cana."

"Levy and Gajeel."

"What?!

"(y/n) and Natsu."
