Lola
The sound is deafening, my heart is hammering against my chest, almost drowning out the sound of the wind but not quite. Underneath me the ground looms closer. At twenty metres I pull the parachute, the wind quietens, my heart slows down. Ten metres, five metres, one metre and then my feet softly touch the grounds of consciousness.
My vision is hazy and blurred, lots of blue and a clean smell surrounds me. Then I tune into reality and find myself in a hospital bed surrounded by doctors and a tear stained Maria. I blink and click my tongue, realising how dry my mouth is. Maria hasn't seen me yet, the tears in her eyes must be blocking her vision.
I realise how quiet it is.
Then I sit up and the room turns into a chaos of doctors and nurses, as if someone from above had hit the play button on the remote of life.
