Maria
The silence is deafeningly quiet. A hush sweeps over the room, like a caressing hand.
The seconds last for hours until the room erupts into noise and relief, I am too out of it to notice at first. I am stuck in a black hole of crumbling sadness.
I finally come to my senses when a tsunami of doctors and nurses rush to the hospital bed. My eyes meet Lola's and the tears stop, a smile seeps onto my face and then I do something I haven't done in seven years.
I speak.
And the words come rushing out like birdsong.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
That was the last Chapter.
I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has read and commented and voted on Maria- thank you so much for the feedback has kept me writing with a smile on my face. I'm a bit sad that this book is over actually as it has been as much as mystery for me as it has for you.
I might start writing some other stories like this one so keep your eyes peeled.
