I couldn't hold back my tears as I buried my face in his neck and held on tightly to him. I knew that I was probably hurting him but I didn't care. He could handle it.

"Why are you crying, Bambina? I'm awake now." He asked pulling my head back so he could see my face.

"I thought I was going to lose you. I thought you were leaving me." I sobbed.

"Never, Tesoro. I'm never leaving you. We have a lot more living to do." He said with conviction.

"I should get the doctor." I said sitting up.

"It can wait. Get back down here." He said pulling on my hand.

"But-"

"But nothing. I want a few more minutes with you because it all gets messy and the guys come rushing in."

I smiled. "Okay."

I laid back down with my head on his chest as he tangled one hand in my hair and laid the other on my waist.

"How long have I been out?"

"A few days. I only woke up about two days ago."

"I'm sorry."

I looked up at him and frowned. "Why are you sorry?"

"I'm sorry I wasn't there when you woke up."

I shook my head. "It doesn't matter. I'm just glad you woke up."

He grabbed my chin with his forefinger and thumb and leaned down to kiss me.

"Did you mean what you said?" He asked quietly.

"Mmmm....which part?"

"About following me?"

I nodded. "I wouldn't spend a hour or even ten minutes on this earth without you."

He gave me a soft smile but it quickly turned into a frown.

"Giuseppe really died for us?"

"He did. They say his body and whatever he used to cover the bomb took most of the hit. He saved us."

"F*cking dumbass." He muttered.

"He saved us, Vince."

"I know but now someone has to call his ex-wife and daughter."

"He had a daughter?"

He nodded. "I'm the only one that knows. He didn't want others to know in case anything ever went real bad."

"How old is she?"

"Sixteen."

"Why would he leave her? Why would he leave her for us?"

"I don't know."

We laid in silence for what felt like hours but I didn't mind. For the time since I woke up, I felt like I could breathe.

I had Vince. He didn't leave me. We still had a future together filled with great, messy, and amazing adventures and children and whatever else we'll get into.

I sat up after a few minutes and moved to carefully straddle his waist. He gave me a questioning look but didn't say anything.

I just took my time staring at him and he stared right back. I was trying to see if he'd break first or if I would.

It was him.

He grabbed the back of my neck and pulled me down to him before he claimed my lips in a hard, bruising kiss. It wasn't a gentle or sweet kiss. It was rough and possessive. His tongue licked at my lips, coaxing me to open to his demanding advances. His other hand framed my face to pull me harder into him. There was so much feeling behind that kiss that I wanted it to last forever.
