❝ to me, it's only you. ❞

JISUNG WASN'T REALLY expecting to open his front door at 8:04 to a shaking chenle, much less be pulled into a rib cracking hug before he could even say hello.
"chenle...?"
chenle buried his face in jisung's collarbone, his arms wrapping behind and holding the taller boy's back. jisung held the other close, closing the door and backing them up slightly. he listened to chenle's breathing, noticing how it was shaky and rushed. his heart felt heavy.
chenle was rarely like this. he knew exactly what was going on.
jisung slowly pulled a hand away from chenle's side to raise his head, biting his lip when he saw chenle's red, teary eyes.
chenle stared up at him sadly, doing all he could to keep his bottom lip from trembling. jisung ran his thumbs under the chinese boy's eyes, making them flutter shut. chenle leaned into the touch, feeling his eyes fill with water again. a warm touch was all it took for him to break down once again.
jisung panicked when chenle began to shake again. he pulled him back into his arms, caressing his hair and holding him tightly. "hey, breathe, lele. it's okay."
zhong chenle was normally a bright, constantly cheery person. he would do whatever it took to make sure his friends were happy. no matter what would happen, he would stay positive and never looked down on his life. however, every once in a while, his bubbly personality would be traded for dark, sad feelings. he would break down for days, sometimes weeks, and he didn't have a way to solve it or explain it. during these times, chenle would stick to his closer friends like jisung, renjun, and donghyuck as much as he could. his anxiety would peak and dark thoughts would cloud his mind.
it could be quite worrying.
chenle let out a muffled, almost silent sob. he pulled at jisung's sweater, his legs feeling like water. jisung could feel his heart weighing him down and he whispered small words of encouragement as he carefully walked them to the couch. his mother walked in as he got to the loveseat and gasped when she saw the boy's condition, running to them immediately.
"oh my, chenle!"
mrs. park laid out the softest blanket they had, which happened to be out from jisung's previous lounging around, and placed a couple pillows at the end. jisung thanked her silently and helped the quivering chenle lay down, throwing the blanket over him.
"can i get anything for you?" mrs. park asked chenle worriedly, crouching next to the loveseat. chenle shook his head, shutting his eyes tightly to keep in his emotions. the older woman sighed, pecking his forehead before getting up and doing the same to jisung, leaving afterwards. jisung sat on the loveseat beside chenle, holding his hand and caressing it softly with his thumb.
"ji," chenle mumbled quietly, opening his eyes to look up at his worried best friend.
"hm?"
