❝my baby, baby. ❞

"JEONGINNIE!" CHENLE CALLED out, waving to the boy that was just entering the classroom. said boy looked up and grinned, running excitedly towards the desks that chenle and jisung were seated in.

he sat down on jaemin's desk (who had gone to visit donghyuck before class started) and waved, "hi!"

jisung smiled at him, throwing a peace sign up and watched as chenle giggled while he talked to the younger boy. "can you tell your mom that i'm not gonna make it today? i wanna study more for the math test tomorrow."

jeongin pouted and let out a small sigh but nodded nonetheless. "yeah, i'll tell her. i'll be lonely, though."

chenle smiled apologetically. "sorry, jeonginnie."

at that point, jisung had noticed himself staring at the older while his two friends obsessed over 'spooky season', and somehow, so did jeongin. when chenle looked down to check his phone jisung made eye contact with the other korean. the boy smirked and wiggled his eyebrows, glancing between his two friends with narrow eyes. he mouthed, "whipped?"

jisung pretended to slap him, scrunching his nose up.

jaemin came running into the classroom just as the bell rang, making jeongin sigh and push himself off the desk. the honey-blonde boy gave him a high five and ruffled jisung's hair before plopping himself down into his desk. chenle looked up and raised an eyebrow curiously at jaemin, who was breathing heavily.

"lost track of time, had to run," he explained.

ha, loser.

when lunch time came, jisung told chenle and jaemin to go ahead. he'd received a text this morning from renjun asking if he could talk to jisung alone, and they figured lunch break would be the best time. he stood outside of his classroom, occasionally waving to a passing classmate. eventually the small chinese boy showed up, gripping only his sketchbook tightly to his chest with his little backpack over one shoulder. jisung stood straight and called for renjun, making him look up and send a small smile his way.

"what's up?" jisung asked as renjun stopped in front of him. the height difference was very obvious with how close they were standing and jisung held himself back from cooing, because honestly, it was adorable

"honestly?" renjun leaned against the wall behind them.

"i just wanted to talk with you. i'm close with literally everyone but you, so i wanted to change that, i guess." he paused, and although he was a very straightforward person with things he wanted to say, jisung could sense his hesitation. what a cutie, being all nervous. "i was hoping we could just hang out together. it doesn't have to be right now if you want to go back to the others but... yeah..."

jisung grinned, tilting his head and showing two thumbs up (ok loser). "let's go then."

renjun let his jaw drop. "right now? really?" the younger nodded, wrapping an arm around his shoulders.

the shorter boy let out a quiet laugh. "i was thinking we could go to the art room," he suggested as they walked away.

"so, what did renjun want to talk to you about?" chenle asked as he and jisung were walking home. jisung pursed his lips, recalling the lunch break they spent together.

the two had played with some paints, renjun teaching him a few things, and just talking about life. it was quite fun and jisung had wondered why they weren't closer in the first place. "he wanted to be better friends with me. so we just hung out all break."

chenle let out an exaggerated "wow." he looked over at his best friend and made some weird hand gestures while speaking. "finally! i was wondering when y'all would catch up, gosh."

jisung rolled his eyes, chuckling. he leaned in a bit as they turned down their neighborhood street. "cutie."

chenle's cheeks turned pink. "huh?"

the taller felt his chest fill up with those butterflies haha because the author doesn't know how to explain that ONE feeling and his lips automatically turned up. he sucked air loudly through his teeth and scrunched his nose and eyes up. "ah, whatever." quickly, he turned his head to chenle and locked their arms together at their elbows.

"first one there has to pay for the ramen."

chenle gasped dramatically but let himself be dragged along the street as they both let out annoying laughs. he ignored the fact that jisung said the 'first one there' yet was dragging him, and he also ignored the overwhelming joy that surrounded them.

as jisung ran, he bit his lip through the smiles, recalling the blush that he managed to cause.

maybe, just maybe, he has a chance with chenle.
