❝to make my first love last until the end❞

NORMALLY, CHENLE WOULD be the first one to fall asleep.
however this time, he was the last one to do so.
he was currently lying on his bed, staring at the ceiling with jisung sprawled out next to him. he was far from tired, so he settled with letting his thoughts go wild.
renjun was also on his floor (he had fallen off of the bed and didn't want to get up) but chenle was sure he was asleep by now. he sighed. all he could think about was the boy sleeping just a foot away from him, wrapped up like a burrito in chenle's favorite fall themed blanket. he let his head to fall to the side and his eyes gazed upon jisung's sleeping figure. he looked so peaceful and so very adorable that chenle could cry.
he let a smile grace his lips and he turned, supporting his head with his hand. his eyes scanned jisung's features, from his pretty eyelashes to the pout that had formed on his lips during his sleep. chenle lifted his arm to push back a strand of hair that had fallen in his face, holding his cheek gently for a second.
thankfully, jisung was quite a deep sleeper.
he felt himself losing control and he tested the waters. quietly, he spoke. "jisung?"
the boy didn't move, still far too deep into his dreams. chenle breathed out in relief. he hummed, hesitating before he kept speaking. he needed some way to get this out of his system.
"jisung... i really like you, you know that?" his voice was oh so soft and fond, and he caressed the younger's hair. "i really, really like you. so much. you haven't noticed yet, huh? sometimes i just wish you would tell me that you liked me back."
he bit his lip. "you're so pretty."
when jisung still didn't stir, he huffed. while he was glad jisung was asleep. he still wished the younger would at least know of his feelings. he retracted his hand. "i also wish you weren't so oblivious, you idiot."
he heard a faint rustling movement and froze, slowly turning his head to look at the edge of his bed. renjun was there, arms crossed on the foot of the bed with his chin rested atop. he was peering up tiredly at chenle. the younger gasped. "oh my god, did i wake you up? wait- did you hear that?"
renjun rolled his eyes. "yes, i heard it all, and no, you didn't wake me up. i just couldn't sleep."
chenle let out a relieved sigh.
he slowly got up from the bed, sparing one last glance at jisung before joining his best friend on the floor. "i can't either."
renjun hummed. he brought his knees up and rested his arms on top of them, wrapped up in another one of chenle's blankets. chenle could see how tired renjun was and he felt bad. even though the elder had said he had been awake, chenle still worried that he woke him up (nobody wanted to wake renjun up; he was either like a kitten or he tried to kill you).
"i'm jealous of you," renjun admitted. chenle's eyes widened. "of what?"
renjun sighed, "you only have one boy to worry about."
chenle stayed silent. he bit his lip, not really knowing what to say. instead, he reached over and grabbed one of the elder's hands, lacing their fingers together. he stared at the laptop on his desk that was silently playing youtube videos from hours ago. he whispered in mandarin, "it'll get easier soon, i promise. hm?"
renjun nodded with a sad smile. "yeah."
they sat in silence for a few minutes, simply comfortable in each other's presence and too busy with their thoughts to do much else. eventually, though, chenle stood up. he brushed off his thighs, looking down at renjun with a cheeky smile. "i'm gonna go look at the stars, wanna come?"
renjun giggled. "duh."
they both snuck out of the room after chenle helped him up and tip-toed to the front porch, not forgetting to bring blankets. they set up a little area outside where they could comfortably see the stars, ignoring the cold air of october. they got settled and laid on their backs, staring straight up at the sky. for the next hour, they joked and made wishes, even talking about classes. after that hour passed though, chenle noticed renjun's words were more slurred and gentler, and neither of them could feel their fingertips.
he pushed himself up, holding a hand out to renjun. the elder took it gratefully, grimacing when he felt the other's freezing skin even when he knew his was the same way. he felt as if he could fall asleep the moment he hit the pillow, so instead of arguing that he wanted to stay longer, he simply followed chenle back into the house.
the chinese pair were so relieved to be back in the warmth of chenle's room and they both fit into the bed, chenle on his stomach next to jisung and renjun on his side. they made sure to cover up in blankets to stay warm.
that night, all three of the teens dreamt of happy relationships, and renjun was sure he woke up to see the younger two's hands intertwined as if they were made for each other.
