'A what?'

Preston rubbed his arm awkwardly, looking down at the floor as the prince rolled his eyes. 'I'm sure you heard him the first time, Seto.'
'Pfft, yeah I did. It's a side affect from the spell; It should wear off by tomorrow.'
'But... Why's it a voice? Not to mention, a bad one.'
Ow, my feelings. They're so hurt.
'Ugh. Is this thing gonna be in my head when I try to sleep?' The Tauran muttered in annoyance, and the sorcerer gave him a sympathetic look.
'Sorry Preston. I can't actually do anything, since the voice is actually yourself.'
'What?' Rob spluttered. Preston had a similar reaction to this, but all the Royal Seer could do was shrug.

'Basically the loose magic is amplifying your thoughts. Unfortunately, they're your bad thoughts; Memories you don't want to remember, thoughts that, in all honestly, are scary. The best I can do is give you a potion to make you sleep.'

Robert gave his friend a worried look. He remembered that, from travelling with the "prodigy", he didn't have the best self-esteem. This was going to be difficult.
'Well, thanks Seto.'
'I'm sorry that this happened. It won't be for long, though... Right! Right, sleeping potion.' Chucking the Tauran a cyan vial, the sorcerer gave the pair a slight wave before retreating back to his room.

Well that went well.
Hey. Hey, Preston. What else went well? Or, at least, into a well.
I swear to-
Josh.

'Shut up.' He hissed under his breath, clenching his fists and keeping his head down as they began their walk to the bedrooms. Prince Robert, being the kind soul that he is, pulled his friend to a hold by grabbing his arm and swinging him around.
'Hey. Look at me.'
Instead of seeing Rob, Preston saw his brother.
No. No, no no-
'Preston, it's okay. Tell me what's wrong.'
Preston, I'm scared. You didn't save me.

'I, uh, it's making me see something I don't particularly want to see!' The mirage changed. His brother was dripping wet, eyes hollow and lifeless.
'Preston? Come on, it's me. Nothing else is happening, we're in the castle and we're both going to go to bed, okay?' Rob was gripping both of his shoulders, probably too tightly, but Preston didn't even feel it.
'Okay, sorry about this buddy.' Prying the potion from his hands, he uncapped the bottle and forced it down his friend's throat. After a few moments, the Tauran's panicked eyes fluttered closed and he stumbled forwards.

Uh grab him? I guess? About two seconds later, the Prince was holding him in his arms. If he'd been there, Lachlan probably would have screamed. Maybe screeched like a weird bird, I don't know, but it was pretty cute to see.
Oh my gosh, oh my gosh he's so light? What if I hurt him? Okay, calm down Rob. This is totally normal, friends look after friends all the time.

So taking the brunet in some kind of lift (what we would now call the "fireman's lift"), Rob made his way down the few corridors they'd walked through and safely made it back to their room.
Okay, now just slowly- He ended up dropping the Tauran, who whacked his head against the wall but didn't make a sound. He'd landed on the bed, so I guess that was a plus? Yeah. Let's take what we can get.
He seems to be okay. I'd better stay awake though, just in case he does wake up. Despite his thoughts, the prince was tired, so only lasted a few minutes before crashing onto his bed.
Nah. Night, Preston.
