Unif came into my tent as I looked over reports. "Your armor." He said and began putting it on the stand. I noticed it was much different than my last armor. It matched the hilt of my sword. The metal black, and durable. Light enough to fly in. A sun was on each shoulder and it made a soft smile come to my face.
"You okay?" He asked me. "Why do you ask?" I asked, going back to the paper in my hand. "Because you and Xan nearly killed each other yesterday. The day before you and Tinisin got into it." Unif pointed out. "We're all on edge. We've been away from home for nearly three months." I sighed. In those three months King Dimo set up a camp not too far from our own. The next time we fight will be our last. Its just a question of who will be the last King standing.
"Anything from Raven?" He asked me. I shook my head, "No." And it had me worried. The bond told me she was okay and that she wasn't cheating, but what could keep her from writing to me? "If it was anything major, Lana would come and inform you." He reasoned through his own worry. We all wanted to get home, but this was the most crucial time in our war. One wrong move and they may learn our plans and wipe us out.
I nodded, "Yes. So we shouldn't worry until there is reason to." He sighed in agreement. After he left I got up to go stretch my legs. Suddenly there were shouts and smoke. I rushed out of my tent and saw that Seraphs were in the air, throwing fire balls at the camp. I leaped into the air, sword drawn. Foot soldiers frkm Dimo's camp began to infiltrate, but luckily my men were expecting them thanks to Jansin's spying. I moved through their fireballs with ease my sword slicing their leathery bodies, their entrails falling to the ground before their corpse follows it.
Once the Seraphs were dealt with I joined the battle on the ground. I lost count with how many men my sword clashed with, how many I killed. It was a frenzy of bloodshed as we hacked them down. His army was larger, but mine was more skilled. We were protecting those we loved, making us even more dangerous.
I saw Jurian and Jansin fighting back to back, fighting with skill and precision. Unif and Xan had each other's backs as well. I made my way through the field protecting as many as I could. Until my eyes landed on Dimo, smirking at me. I shot to him, my sword drawn. Today, he dies.
Raven's POV
"Again." Clarice said as she panted, wiping the blood from her lip. She held the sword I made her. I made it match the dagger Unif gave her but it had a chain on the inside of the hilt to wrap around her enemies, her request, and she uses it well. For monthse we've trained after she became demon. Like me, she had wings, ears, and a tail. She looked as if she could be my twin, except our hair color and eyes were different. She made the decision after a run in with our parents while out shopping. They said she was a demon in human skin so she shedded the human skin.
We were training with Lana and Yinsy. Tiya stayed on the side with the babies. We've had numerous attacks on the city, and we all made an agreement not to inform our mates. They needed to focus on the front line while we protect our home. Unfortunately, they'll know when they return, many homes and stores were destroyed. We moved many as we could either into the castle or as close to the castle that we could. Many who had home best the castle opened their homes to others.
Cinteri and several others fly over on patrol while others patrolled the streets. Our army was mostly women but they were powerful and well trained. "Enough for now. The Queen has reports to do." Cinteri said as he entered the training field, holding a stack of documents. He has become my most trusted advisor, nanny, and friend. I say nanny because Yinsy no longer wakes me up in the morning because she's so busy with Axiom. He also makes sure I eat, remember to bathe, makes sure I stay on top of tasks, and not stay up to late. He also gives me advice when I don't ask for it.
I sighed and sheathed my sword, "Okay." I summoned a towel, happy I mastered my magic. I dried off my sweaty soaked before taking the documents and began the walk to the office I share with Azia. I don't know how he will like the added desk and chair but I now had my own personal space to work. "Any word from Azia?" He asked me. "He's worried that I'm not replying, but if I tell him I've been busy, then he'll be curious and I won't be able to bring myself to lie to him."
He sighed and nodded in agreement, "I know it hurts but silence is the best for now." "We'll deal with his anger later, right now we need to focus on the crisis at hand." I said while sitting behind my desk. He sat in the chair across from me and we began to get through the reports.
My eyes would go over to the message book and every time I would have to refrain from grabbing it. We worked till it was time to eat when Lana came in with a tray holding our dinner. She handed me another report and I sighed. "They're status updates on the injured from the last attack. Many have left infirmary." She informed me. I nodded, "Thank you." I sat them to the side and picked up the plate of food.
Suddenly the book Azia gave me began to glow. I opened it and saw a message written in a handwriting I didn't recognize.
I have your mate.
My blood ran cold and I got to my feet instantly. "What's wrong," Cinteri asked me. "Dimo has Azia," I told him as I began to make my way out of the room. "I will get Lana to set up a portal," he said before he ran off while I went to my room. I got dressed and grabbed my sword. I met Lana and Cinteri in the throne room, and I was a little surprised to see Yinsy and Clarice waiting, ready for a fight. Lana made the portal and we were taken to a camp that was covered in bodies. Thankfully most of those bodies were the enemies.
A man came over to us, heavily bandaged, "We're sorry you're highness. We couldn't stop them from taking the King or the others." "Who else did he take," I asked him. "Unif, Jansin, Jurian, Xan, and the King," He answered. I nodded and placed a hand on his shoulder, "Don't blame yourself. You did what you could. Now get some rest." He nodded before walking away. I looked at Lana, "Get as many healers as possible here to assist." She nodded, "Yes ma'am." She opened her portal as I began to go around the camp to talk with many of the men, to see if any of the enemy was still alive so we could question them.
When Lana came back, Tessa ran over to me and I ran my hand through her fur. "You ready to track down Azia," I asked her. She yipped and her tails wagged. I then noticed Clarice looking over the camp. I walked over to her, "You don't have to do this if you don't want too." She shook her head, "I need to find him." Her voice was soft and gentle as she spoke. She was not the older sister I once knew. Instead she was a woman doing her best to heal. Her husband was lucky it was Dimo that dealt with him and not one of us.
I nodded, "We will. I promise." "I just worry about what Dimo is going to do to them," she whispered. "After what was done to you..." I nodded, "I worry about that myself. That is why we can't waste any time trying to find them." She nodded in agreement and we began interrogate the ones who were still alive before we had Tessa track down their scents. Hang on my love.
