We woke up on the floor, her head on my chest, our wings covering each other. I had to get up to leave, but I didn't want to. I wanted to stay with my light, making love to her for the rest of our days, but unfortunately we were at war and I had things I needed to take care of.

She growled softly when I went to get up. I chuckled and kissed her forehead, "I need to get up." She grumbled something incoherent as she let me up. I stood and felt her eyes on me. I had to will myself not to look back, because if I did I would take her once more. Who am I kidding, I wouldn't stop at one.

I heard her softly moan and I became hard instantly. I looked over my shoulder and saw her limping on her way to the bathing chamber. Male pride filled me at seeing her. We both had carpet burn, scratches, bite marks, and many other markings that made claim to each other. She came out, wearing her robe, her ruby hair a mess. I smirked and she rolled her eyes. I pulled her into my arms, kissing her lips softly. "I wish you didn't have to go," she sighed as she rested her good hand over my heart. Suddenly I felt a slight burn on my skin. The mark she wants to symbolize our mating, appeared beneath her palm. It was our swords crossing, the sun and the moon. "I love you forever and always," she said before standing on her tip toes, kissing me softly. "And always forever," I whispered against her lips before kissing her once more.

After we dressed I carried my bag in one hand and held her hand in another. She smiled when she saw Unif had given me the sword she made. "What made you think of the sun and moon," I had asked her when I put it one. She smiled, "Because I am your light like the sun, and you give me dreams I never thought of having except for at night when I sleep." That had made me pull her towards me for another kiss.

At the palace gate everyone was kissing their mate goodbye. What surprised me was seeing Clarice with Unif. They weren't kissing but she was blushing and looking down at her feet. Raven smiled softly as we watched him hand her a dagger in a white scabbard. The hilt of her dagger was a soft pink with a pink jewel on the small round pommel.

"I think they'll be good for each other," Raven whispered to me. "I will inform Unif he has your blessing then." I kissed her lips softly but she pulled me by my shirt for another kiss, this time kissing me as if she may never see me again. Our tongues danced, remembering each other's taste. We only pulled away because air was an essential thing we needed to live.

"I love you Azia," She said, tears lining her eyes. "I love you too Raven." I then looked to Cinteri, one of the few males who will be staying behind, "Protect her, please." He nodded, "Nothing will happen to any of my sisters." Him claiming her as his sister meant he claimed me as his brother and that made it only easier to leave by the tiniest fraction.

Every step we took away from the palace, away from our loved ones, was excruciating. I could feel her eyes on me until I was no longer within her sight rang. Jurian clapped me on the back, "Come on your highness, think of it this way, we get to revert back to the barbarians we once were." I chuckled and shook my head. War was the few times we went full into our traditions beyond celebrations and matings. Our training, our weapon making, our brotherly bonding. No woman ever went to war, and it wasn't because they were seen as the weaker species.

They were actually the stronger species, but do you think it smart to leave us men in charge of the house hold duties, while also taking care of the children, and making sure everything is done correctly? The city would be ashes in a matter of hours. Although Raven isn't a mother, she still is able to balance court duties, be a blacksmith, deal with me, and still find time to take Tessa out.

By the time I get home, Tessa will have claimed my side of the bed and I will most likely have to fight her for it. Then again, I could just take Raven's side of the bed and make her sleep on top of me. After being gone and missing each other, she might not protest.

"Jansin and Xan will be more barbaric though," Unif pointed out. It was true. Jansin had left his newborn son and mate at home. The urge to want to be by their sides at all times is hard to resist. If I didn't see his shadow abilities necessary then it would be him who stayed at home while Cinteri came with us. Yinsy was due any day now and it was tearing Xan apart that he wasn't going to be there for the birth of their first born. I had given him the choice and the two of them agreed he join me. He will be a moody pain in the ass, as will Jansin, but hopefully we can direct that towards the enemy and end the war that much sooner.

"So how did Raven take the news yesterday," Xan asked me. I smirked at the memories of last night, "Rather roughly." Xan and Jansin chuckled while shaking their heads while Jurian and Unif just rolled their eyes. "What, jealous you didn't have a pretty woman to say farewell too brother," Jansin teased Jurian. Jurian gave him a shove, "I had plenty of women warm my bed last night." For some reason there was something that made me not believe him, but none of the others seemed to notice.

"So what is up with you and Clarice," Jurian asked Unif, taking the attention from himself. "She's my mate," He said simply. "Woah wait really," Jansin asked. "What does Raven think," Jurian asked. I shrugged, "They have her blessing and mine as well." Jurian looked at Unif, "Does she know?" He nodded, "She does." "And how does she feel about that? Isn't she technically married in the human lands," Xan asked. Unif shook his head, "Dimo killed her husband when he took her and her parents. He was lucky it was Dimo who got his hands on him."

"So how did she take it when you told her?" I asked him. He smiled, "She took it rather well. Told me I better come home or she was going hunt me down and shove a hot iron up my ass. Of course she said it in the most polite way possible which I have never heard done before."

Jansin chuckled, "How do you threaten someone politely?" We all laughed at the idea. Of course we wouldn't laugh in her face, we may actually be scared if she did threaten us.  After all it would impolite to not make good on your threats.
